While we're known worldwide for our famous "big reds", even we don't like to drink Barberian every night. Sometimes a medium-bodied, easy-drinking red wine is the perfect thing. Our Gold Leaf Cuvee Merlot and Gold Leaf Cuvee Cab are great every night drinking wines. Rich, fruity, delicious - and perfect with everything from pizza to pasta.

Tasting Notes:
This Gold Leaf Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon illustrates the values of growing this varietal in Sonoma
County. 2006 was a warm vintage, and, as a result, this wine flaunts a rich, ripe cassis character on the nose.
The palate shines with dark berry fruit and currants, supported by briary, leathery tannins that are big, yet soft
and lingering. The high acidity contributes to a wine that will age well, though it’s drinking fabulously now
after 32 months in barrel.

Comments:
This wine exhibits the core values of the Gold Leaf Cuvee label; quality, value, and integrity; with
particular complexity and finesse. We work hard to develop the tannin structure in all our Cabs, including the
Gold Leaf Cuvee, through proprietary macerating techniques good, old-fashioned time in barrel. The lower
pH (and higher acidity) of this Cab is a result of our belief that low pH wines age better and drink better
with food, which makes all of our wines, but perhaps particularly this Cab, wonderful food wines and a great
choice for BTG placement.
