2005 Pax Syrah Walker Vine Hill

See wine details

Winery Note:

An interesting vintage for this vineyard, we saw very low juice to skin ratios from these grapes, which was very unusual in 2005. The resulting wine is exceptionally lush and concentrated, even for a Vine Hill Syrah! This is a perennial favorite for those who prefer a smoother, lusher styled wine, while maintaining true Syrah varietal character.

100 % Syrah
60 % new French Oak
14.83 % Alc by Vol
3.81 pH
575 cases produced

Tasting Note:
Deep dark brooding aromas of blue fruits, smoke, brown spices, wet stones and purple flowers, in the mouth...it tastes like... well...Walker Vine Hill Syrah. Concentrated and velvety, the tannin structure reminds me more of the 2004 than the 2003, with riper, finer tannins. The finish adds melted chocolate, graphite, black-currants, blueberry compote and leather to this luscious beauty.
