2006 Failla Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard Sonoma Coast

2006 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Estate Vineyard (100 cases produced)
This inaugural vintage, from the vineyard’s sixth leaf, was harvested the first week of September; our elevation above the fog and distance from the coast give us earlier ripening than Hirsch or Occidental Ridge. Handling the Estate in the same kid-glove manner as our other Pinot Noirs, Ehren aged the wine in 50% new French oak barrels. The resulting aromatics are the most exotic of the release: cassis, cola and toasty baking spices. Present but sweet, well-integrated tannins offer a full-bodied juicy mouthfeel. This inherent structure will allow the wine to continue to develop in the cellar for up to 10-12 yearshttp://www.faillawines.com/newsletter.htm
