November 3, 2009 - Very light color, ruby red rim of low extraction. On the nose, subtle but beautiful aromatics led by soily earth notes, incredibly pure red cherry fruit and exotic new French barrique spices. With air the wine develops some darker fruits, florality. On the palate pretty close to perfection... a very slow upslope of firm acidity that transitions effortlessly into a broad midpalate that again transitions seemlessly into firm tannic finish of moderate integration, ripeness. Low alcohol. Great balance, average length, good intensity, moderate+ complexity. Incredible finesse, nearly perfect texture, amazing expression of place... very masculine wine 2/3 of the way into the palate. The wine is in a relatively good place now but I suspect will be better in 3-5 years. "Extraordinary" palate, "very good" complexity and aromatics = "outstanding" for me though I'd be lieing if I said I wasn't expecting more from this producer, site, and vintage.
