November 19, 2011 - This juicy deeply purple wine was well balanced, supple tannins and decent fruit left. I think its about peaked but another couple of years won't hurt it. An unusual grape that pretty much only finds individual expression in Chile these days (their attempt to have their own Zin?), at least Montes attempts to make a serious age worthy wine as opposed to all the cheaper fruity versions out there. As Michelin would say, "not worth the trip" but happy to have a glass if I was passing by. I don't have any of this in my cellar and this effort didn't convince me to change my stance.
