April 13, 2012 - Tasted at D'Oliveira's cellar door. A shame to taste it in such a rushed setting, tasting it alongside the 1875 Malvazia and 1908 Boal in quick succession. No formal notes taken, but from memory the structure was impeccable and grand - flowed from toffee, ginger, burnt sugar, with a distinct acid spine prominent throughout. Acidity prominent to the end, tremendous length.
While a fantastic verdelho, I don't believe it is "better" than a lot of the 20th century verdelho and one pays for the opportunity to drink a 19th century wine. Still a great wine though.4,798 views
