July 7, 2012 - 2005 Guigals with Lawrence, Vivian and Mrs L (Fook Lam Moon, Hong Kong): Sexy and svelte while also retaining an aura of elegance and poise, the 2005 La Mouline was surprisingly approachable despite its relative youth. Nose was dominated by smoky, velvety notes of dark berries, dried flowers and saddle leather. Medium bodied, with a fine polish and smooth mouthfeel and a plush 60-second finish, this wine was a real knockout in a rather feminine sort of way (certainly compared to the La Turque opened alongside). My first experience with Guigal's famous single-vineyard Cote Roties, and I can see why these wines are often priced for perfection.
