October 7, 2012 - I find New York Rieslings very appealing and think they are underestimated. Color is as good as one would expect. Nose is quite nice and typical of new world Rieslings. Nose and palate are pretty similar and to be expected, given the newness of the wine. Notes of apple and apricot are apparent throughout. Likewise, there is from A to Z a crisp acidity ending with a lovely, very noticeable, green apple component. I am big fan of domestic Rieslings if the alcohol level is relatively low. In this case the alcohol level of is this wine is 11.5 percent, which is reasonable. Can’t wait until US producers make dry Riesling closer to 10 percent in alcohol -- like most German Rieslings.

The wine was served along side smoked trout filets with capers and water biscuits.
