In the mouth, the wood is initially dominant, then the cranberry comes through, along with some pepper, blackberry, tobacco and plum. The fruit is strident, too much so, as if they had tried too hard to concentrate the taste. The trademark creaminess and elegance are both lacking, this is like a toned down La Tour Carnet. Weird but not wonderful.
