Community Tasting Note

December 25, 2012 - Easily the darkest wine I’ve seen (pitch black). Reminds me of a solid Aussie Shiraz. Loads of oak, menthol, vanilla, anise, black fruit, and a little to much prune. The alcohol is definitely noticeable. Not my style for the price.

1/10/13, 6:15 AM - MS, thanks for the note. I would tell you that the wine sees no new oak. Kelly has Bob Foley use mainly older barrels, at least to say there are no new barrels used, so the wine could see a once used, or a barrel several times used. I would agree with this wine is a line pusher, as I opened one around T-giving and it's big. Try the 2009 if you have the interest, as that wine should show more acid and complexity. I've yet to try the 2010s since they arrived.
