February 3, 2013 - Leoville Poyferre embodies the 1982 vintage's hallmark of unmistakeable opulence. It is easy to throw around adjectives, and i will in a moment, but the most important thing is this wine makes you keep going back for more out of sheer deliciousness and it gets better as it aerates
The bottle had a fill level just into the neck, and there was no bricking. Both the bouquet and flavor profile are dominated by rich red fruit, balanced nicely by unobtrusive acidity. It's like drinking liquified silk, and while it reveals more of itself over time I do get the sense it's softening so I wouldn't look to cellar this 5-10+ years....you might find yourself wondering how great it was in 2013.
The price tells you it's not an underdiscovered gem but for potential buyers you are getting value for your money.1 person found this helpful 5,658 views
