March 30, 2013 - Decanted. Compelling, complex nose of spice, barnyard, black olive, crushed strawberries, violets and gravel. After time in the glass, notes of dried rose petal, worcestershire, potpourri and cinnamon. Palate was beautifully balanced with integrated tannins. Flavors of plum, spice and cocoa powder. Surprisingly delicate body, considering the strength of the aromatics and flavors. Slight brett, but only adds to the complexity and indicative of Pegau. Looong finish. I know it's early, but so far wine of the year. Ponderous/cerebral. Absolutely delicious.
