March 9, 2014 - Robert Kacher Selections (Washington, DC): A big, powerful, rich wine (shocking, right?). Aromas of fig paste, ginger bread, dried roses, prunes and baked plums. Bold and generous on the palate, the sweet red and black fruits are baked together with chestnut, red licorice, sage, cinnamon and iron. The tannins are smooth and rounded, and there's actually some medium acid to keep this from being to pie-filling-like. A big and beautiful 2007, although I'm not sure how this will do in the long term. From 100-year-old vines.
