March 30, 2014 - Day later from memory. Getting on in an evening when my limited tasting powers were far from sharp, so no detailed notes. The real point of this is to remind myself to not open another '05 1er Cru for a few more years.

I don't remember exactly where I heard of Aleth Girardin, but her last name resonates across the Burgundy landscape, and I assume there's some relationship to the big negociant, because there always is. Bought this back in a mad rush to accumulate '05's a few years ago, and it was my only bottle. I suspected it might be a tad too soon, so immediately decanted it against normal policy.

What I recall was a wine of elegance and harmony, with a lot in reserve. It was ripe but seamless, with that magic '05 self-assurance. It actually appeared to be closing down after an hour, but that could easily have been my brain. Would certainly look Aleth up again, though her wines don't appear to be in broad distribution in these parts.
