May 4, 2014 - Man, this shows so beautifully. That said, it's 9 hours in when the wine shows best. The nose is subtle and graceful and is unmistakably briny, and there are also leesy, lemony, and floral scents. It's less about intensity and more about focus and clarity, and it's lovely and expressive of place. And it belies the intensity that is here on the palate. The wine is powerful in flavor, very long, with complex mineral notes to complement the citrus and seashell flavors. It's so clean too, just a breath of fresh air. Light in body, absolutely intense in acidity - it bores through, but in a good way. Compelling wine. The color is essentially golden and the wine appears more advanced than it actually is. No shame in drinking this now, especially if you have a few. But this has years and years to go.

5/5/14, 9:55 AM - Indeed. An '06 a few weeks ago showed similarly, with a more pronounced honey note than I've usually found in the Briords. It does take a *long* time to really unfold and show its stuff, though. Pop and pour these older Briords is a path to disappointment...

Thanks for the note, I have a few more of the '06s and '07s which will move into the rotation.
