October 5, 2014 - The more I sip this wine, the more I like it. Deep garnet robe. At 5 years of age a still reluctant nose. Medium-bodied merlot-based flavors with ample glycerine, finishing with a light tongue-lashing of tannins. Youthful balance without an overabundance of alcohol (as one might find in too many New World Merlots). I suspect this wine won't hit its peak till 2019. The quality of this family-owned property shines thru.
Tasting 11/1/17 — Medium red. A bit of funk in the nose, but still nice with long flavors with plenty of tannins still to use up. Tasted against a 2010 pricy Knight's Valley (Sonoma County) Cabernet Sauvignon. While the latter was darker, initially more intense and fruity, the Vieille Tour La Rose had a longer finish and was ultimately more appealing.1 person found this helpful 6,484 views
