    October 30, 2014 - Pop and pour. Initial reactions...spicy herbs, salty meat, menthol, shoe leather, blood from red meat, dark black cherries. Initial palate subdued but yet experssion fruit of cherries, dark chocolate. Think it needs more air time so I will reserve score until after dinner. So far struggling for a 92...more like 90. Back soon.

    With dinner, ok, 1 hour later the wine smoothed but was still somewhat muted in aromatics. Flavor profile was enhanced. I can't really tell the future of this wine but it may improve I just don't know. Still very nice, don't like 14.5 ABV and usually it is more balanced in European wines than California but this wine showed the alcohol.
