Rich entry (somewhat atypical for an '04, in fact) with minimal footprint of oak, but this slims down and has marvelous salinity and acidity as it finishes. Deceptively powerful. Let the Fevre crap shoot continue, bottle by excruciating bottle. This one was a definite winner and as fresh as a 10 year old Chablis could be-a great producer for those who value the element of surprise above all else.

  11/9/14, 11:35 PM - Your note reflects my (limited) experience with Fevre. I feel in love with the 04's, including Preuses, but haven't found a bottle in subsequent vintages that quite lives up. Not to mention to the premox crap shoot...

  11/10/14, 6:45 AM - Enfant-Your comment spurred me to go back and look at my recent experience with Fevre, and I was surprised to see that it has been 3 years since I ticked off a bottle as flawed (with over 50 bottles tried over that period of time). So, my experience is much better than that of many other tasters and less uneven than I would have guessed from all of the anecdotes that circulate about this house. Some bottles, particularly 2004's and 2008's, have been truly excellent.

  11/10/14, 3:12 PM - This is what I love about CT. Out of 13 bottles drunk in past 3 years, I've written 10 notes. Of these, two oxidized bottles and two more from the 2005 vintage have been uninspiring. My experience also is that 04 and 08 have shined, but I've got 57 more bottles to go through, so I better get to work.
