January 23, 2015 - Aware now of the fact that the 2004 vintage is on the bitter/acidic end of the spectrum, I have experimented with different ways of aerating this wine. I got it now! First decant for an hour and clean out the bottle, poor it back in and let it slow-ox for a few further hours (I did six hors this time). Then pump out the air (vaccupump). 12 hours later I had a a wonderful wine! No bitterness, terrific balance, very fresh and the underlying fruit asserts itself. The fine tannins are sweet and the finish is surprisingly long! The QPR when treated this way is great, if you PnP you will feel cheated!
