June 1, 2016 - Still lush and primary with dark fruits and tobacco with the slightest whiff of menthol in the background. Very fruity and brooding without being too strident on day one. Day two brings a reductive nose and some overall mellowing of the palate. This wine really seems to be only at the outset of a nice drinking window. It has a very supple mouthfeel, soft tannins and enough acid to carry the day, but the tertiary flavors are just beginning to peak out. Drink if you like lush and rich, hold for more development.

11/5/16, 6:52 PM - Interesting notes. We only decanted for 30 minutes before drinking, and thought the wine opened nicely. I do have a couple more bottles, and may drink one next year and hold the final one. I did not get the impression that more time would help but noted that you drank your bottle over a 24 hour period. So, I will give that some thought.
