The 2023 iteration of Rombauer's North Coast Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from multiple vineyards within Sonoma County (77%) and Napa County (23%). Comprised entirely of Sauvignon Blanc, it was fermented and aged for 3-4 months in a combination of stainless steel (89%), neutral oak (9%) and concrete (2%). Pale yellow in color, it aromatically offers scents of pink grapefruit, white peach, ginger and lemon verbena. Light-to-medium-bodied, fresh and without any heat from its 14.2% alcohol, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas, adding a hint of spicy oak. Solid on the mid-palate and concluding with good length, this is a well-crafted white that should be at its best over the next couple of years. Bottled under screwcap, it was clean and immediately expressive after opening. Drink now-2026.

Utterly beguiling
Immediate opening has depth and richness on nose which is unusual. Blackberry, pie crust and sandalwood, fades out
Blackberries, blackberry liqueur, black cherries, faint incense, acidity brings flavors out perfectly balanced
Rich, deep, long finish
Truly lovely 🥰
Agree with JLHKISS - rhubarb

I was afraid that this would be grape juice and alcohol. What a pleasant surprise. Yes, it is light on tannins and heavy on fruit. Not a wine for rating. Just enjoyable. Goes quite well with mint Oreo cookies.

Nice example of Ribera, tending more towards the oak and bitter tannins than some. Good fruit in depth adding balance.

We decided to open this to honour Enrico Scavino who passed away late February 2024.

Incredibly fresh; young. Light on its feet. Liquorice, iodine, leather, fennel, on the nose. Beautiful long finish. The first of 6 bottles, plus we have a 6 bottle case of the Bric del Fiasc from the same vintage. One or two a year for the next 5 or 6 years.

A great Barolo.

Delicious. Abundant fruity nose, powerful pleasant well-balanced flavors of earth and blackberry predominate in the taste, and an aftertaste that refreshingly lasts for minutes on end. No history for this cuvee (this 2021 vintage is its year of birth) but should definitely have a long and tasty lifetime in vintages to come.

Pale straw. Peach and apple on the nose.
In the mouth, rich melon, tangerine, with vibrant acidity on entry. Fruit and zest carry into the mid which finds ginger tang and iodine mineral and white pepper spice. Active mouthfeel in a long finish with citric acidity playing with salt and spice. Deep sticky throatfeel with ample salivation.

Vanilla bean crème, unripe cherry, dill, earth/barnyard notes, herbal notes. Old school rioja, and dare I say this can go many years or needed more air. I probably underestimated the amount of air (2hrs) this could take.

Lush and juicy Pinot Noir with heaps of Strawberries and red fruit, cola notes along with anise, spice and a little cardamom the mid-palate is velvety, a succulent finish.

This wine is the ultimate motivation. Having gone through knee replacement surgery a week ago and having pain medication to support recovery was going well… until my lovely spouse popped this open to enjoy in front of me. End result is already tapering on pain meds, no chance of addictive behavior, just want my PT back. (Pinot Therapy)

Not decanted. Somewhat light in aroma and translucency. Initial bouquet of plum. Taste is bright and citrusy; almost feels like a rose Txakoli or similar, almost adjacent to a white wine.

All things considered, very enjoyable and distinct from many other Riojas of similar vintage and price.

It is rare I get my hands on something this old. The score is very subjective from me. 10 years ago I think I would have given this a mid 90.
The cork wasn't flawed, however it did disintegrate when opening. Most of the cork was still in the neck and I had to filter out the bits. Even with the filtering there was a LOT of sediment in this wine. The wine is very much past its best, but the fruit was hanging in there and still had distinct flavor. I desperately wanted to love this. Gamey, meaty, mushrooms, leather, all the characteristics of a great, aged, rich, red even if they were beginning to overtake the fruit flavors.

Do not hold on, pair this now with something rich and meaty, enjoy with friends and imagine what this was like 10 years ago.

This deep-to-opaque crimson wine is a blend of 77.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15.6% Petit Verdot, 6.5% Merlot and 0.4% Cabernet Franc, aged for eight months in French oak (50% new). Serially tasted over a three-hour period from a bottle that had been popped and poured, it fully opens after the first hour to reveal aromas and flavors of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries, Asian spices and pipe tobacco. Medium-to-full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and with fairly well-integrated oak at such an early stage, it wraps its flavors with plentiful sweet tannins, stays solid in the middle and finishes with medium length. This is a very credible "workhorse" Cab from a winery that offers several other bottlings that sell at a significant premium. Drink now-2032.

Decanted 30 minutes. Medium-dark purple-ruby. Smelled black fruit: blackberries, cherry, then leather, gravel, vanilla; the taste reprised. Big body balanced by acid and tannin, intense, finishes medium and fruity. Good stuff.

Medium yellow in color. Initially reductive which quickly blows away to showcase superb aromas of yellow citrus oils, lemon curd, peaches, hint of melted butter and dried florals. Concentrated and palate staining flavors of yellow citrus and orchard pit fruits, saline notes, very good acidity and a very long, powerful finish. Superb.

Took an hour or so to fully open up. Medium to full bodied. Dark berry fruits, cassis, spices. A bit mulled or muddy in mouthfeel, not clean and crisp in flavours. Medium acid, dusty ripe tannins, but on the slightly bitter side. Nice wine. Kind of average for the price.

wow... this was fantastic!!... poured it and was darker than any chard from Rhys I've ever seen -- had me worried, and my wife frightened (she hates smoke and age and roundness)... anyway, none of the above came out on the palate after about three hours of decant... this was - yes - rich on the palate but with great acidity and lift... just the right balance... fantastic, reminded me of the days when we were still drinking 20-year-old white burgs (from the '80's) and loving this experience

PnP, consumed over 2 hours. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet with edge browning. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of dried cranberry, leather, tobacco, and musty earth. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium tannin, medium+ body, medium+ intensity, 14.5% abv with developed flavors of dried red fruit, spice, and tobacco with a medium+ finish.

Balance: Very Good-Excellent
Length: Excellent
Intensity: Excellent
Complexity: Very Good-Excellent

This has aged well and is showing excellent intensity and length. The fruit here is definitely showing some age but there is still a solid spice and acid driven back-bone giving it a nice lift. Should drink well for a couple more years, but I doubt it will improve from here.

loved this again, but it suffered from the comparison to the 2010 version had the night before... this is great in all respects, bold yet not cloying, great acidity with citrus fruit, full minus body with some complexity (minerals??)... just had this instinct that it would be even better in about 5 years

nose: very rustic and tannic smelling, dry roses, dry flowers

taste: tannic, but smooth, not at all rustic tasting, probably needs to open up a bunch, red berry taste, lightweight and nice chilled.

paired with homemade, from the garden tomato sauce, turkey meatballs, and a tricolor spaghetti from eatly. probably not the best pairing, but ok together!
