With grilled salmon and grilled vegetables. Lovely!
White - Off-dry
There is this lovely, honeyed note on the nose (with some petrol) while it has an elegant lightness on the palate. It tastes more like a Spatlese with a gentle (but sufficient) acidity balanced with an orange-honeyed sweetness. I did not get any hint of botrytis. I was told that AP #9 was the “clean” auslese and that Zilliken produces other Auslese APs that have a heavier botrytis influence.

Delicious, light, fruity Pinot Gris
White - Off-dry
An intense, lively, and elegant wine with a firm, mineral spine, but also ripe, almost tropical fruit notes, spice and a hint of bitterness. Racy and mouth-watering on the finish, with the receding sweetness keeping the ripping acidity in check. Yum.

Whoa this is drinking fantastic at this time. Please give it an hour or so decanting to let the woody aroma dissipate. Then pour yourself a nice sized glass of this beauty. Boysenberry, lavender, camphor and spring flowers explode in the nose. Middle weight in the mouth, toasty French oak, chocolate, tobacco and cherry highlight the finish. Yum!
White
This is electric with racy, (borderline searing) acidity with a complex palate of crushed rocks, herbs, lemons, a touch of smoke, and a interesting reddish fruit note. Where the Hollenpfad feels airier and lighter, this is brooding, almost creamy, and dark-toned in comparison. This was great and it would be interesting to see what will happen with this wine as age helps to uncoil the acidity.
White
Floral on the nose with citrus, sea salt, and minerals on the palate, like the condensation of a sea breeze. Very elegant, it also has mouth-watering acidity. Not the flashiest of the Donnhoffs (that would go to the Dellchen), but perhaps the most elegant and lissome, etched with filigreed details.

Unbelievable for a 25-year old Pinot. Nose was very Grand cru Burgundy. Soft tannins. Still fruit on the nose. Mushrooms.

The broadest, ripest wine out of the three Donnhoff GGs, but it still has good acidity. Not flabby, with plenty of mineral cut, and if I had it by itself (which I did last time I had this and enjoyed quite a bit back then), it would be a good wine. But it was just simpler than the other Donnhoffs and was plain outclassed.

The acidity here is a bit jagged, though I don’t personally mind it. Hints of citrus and minerals, with a glycerin texture and a vanilla-inflected finish. Again: oak alert (though it's not offensively oaky).
White
This is a little tight on the nose. The palate is delicate, mineral, polished and refined, but there is a distinct trace of vanilla, presumably from the oak. It’s good, but I can see the oak-averse not being a fan of this. Definitely slimmer than the Austrian wines, though it does feel like its in a similar genre (big and bold). I was told this is the flagship cuvee.
White
A little more white fruit driven than the Austrian wines, though still primarily mineral-forward on the palate. This does feel ripe for a CFE, and while the acidity is sufficient and lively, it’s a little richer and fuller than other iterations of this wine I’ve had in the past. Still quite good, but definitely not as steely and tense as I expected.

Quintessence is in my top two or three favorite vineyards, seemingly producing stellar wines from multiple vintners. However, this time something went a bit sideways. It’s fine, but has an odd plum flavor overriding all else. Prospice’s track record, albeit kinda short, is excellent, so it’s hard to point the finger there. Nonetheless, it’s a step short of well balanced and yummy.

A less intense, less complex, less interesting version of the Fass Severin. Petrol on the nose, still decent acidity, but kind of bruised apple and bland on the palate. The person who brought it thought it was oxidized, and generally less good, than his other bottles. Oh well.
White
I actually had this a couple of months ago, and I felt back then it was a little woody on the finish. This bottle was much better though: very subtle white flower on the nose while the palate is loaded with minerals. It has an elegant, perhaps slightly waxy, mouthfeel and excellent tension and energy, with a hit of tart acidity and spiciness on the finish. No overt oak flavor, though the spice at the end may be a product of the barrel influence (this is aged in large oak cask for 25 years).

Med to light natural cranberry color. Sulphur at first but went away quickly. Tart and juicy, like you might expect. Nice with meats and cheeses. LOTS of sediment.

Very tight and tannic upon opening.
After 3+ hours: Aromas of iron filings, pine needles, underbrush and blood orange. Medium-bodied, this is very tannic and hard to get a bead on. Under all that tannin, there are loads of sweet blood orange, black cherry and composting leaves. This needs at least 4-5 years to soften and come around. Drink 2029-2034 93

There are loads of mineral and hints of citrus on the palate, with a polished, smooth, viscous texture. Acidity is well-integrated into the palate. Very classy wine. Person who brought it thinks it's at its peak right now, based on other bottles he has had.

Tasted after 1 hour of air. Pale ruby color. Very crunchy. High acid. Very sweet raspberry fruit. Nice cut and delineation. Some spice. Nice high toned fruit on the mid palate. Mr. Adam is crazy man for making wines from these no name verticals. I love them. Wine would be boring if everyone followed the same formula.

This is relatively large scaled and big boned with very mature and oxidative flavors (or as a friend described it: oxidized). The acidity is still there and there is a lovely mineral undertone to the palate, but this is past peak, if still enjoyable.

After uncorking, there was initially a hit of turpentine on the nose, however it blows off, and you get aromas of caramel and petrol. The color is getting dark (a light brown), but the palate is still lively and fresh, with mature flavors reminding me of apricot, sour orange, burnt sugar, spices, and ginger. The sweetness, though, is not particularly pronounced. This is probably on the downslope, but it seems to be a rather graceful descent into senescence. Charming and delightful.
White
This is intense and rich, yet balanced, elegant (almost airy on the palate) with yellow fruit, spices, anise, medicinal herbs, and perhaps the subtleist hint of botrytis. The sweetness is well-integrated and the finish is mouth-wateringly tart.

Earth and reduction on the nose. Red fruit, light to medium bodied. Reduction fades and fruit comes to the forefront as it opens up. Really tasty. Great value. Good acid. Great everyday drinker that’s a step above the rest.

Frédéric Magnien's 2019 Morey St. Denis Blanc is an impressive village-level white Burgundy that offers an aromatic array of blood oranges, Braeburn apples, honeysuckle, wet stones and coriander. Medium-bodied, racy, lightly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13%), it delivers flavors comparable to the aromas and has excellent mid-palate density. Lengthy and crisp on the back end, this sleek wine should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 4-5 years. Popped and poured, it showed best after 30 minutes of air and at a serving temperature of 50-55°F. Drink now-2029.

Somehow I hadn't opened one of these until now. Beautiful light ruby color. Red fruited, with strawberry notes dominating, but some orange peel and rhubarb mixed in. Quite fine, focused and refreshing on the palate--but more open than these are sometimes on release. Tannins there but light touch and add structure without being austere. Has a hint of baking spice on the finish that's quite intriguing and adds complexity. No harm in opening if you have several--but I suspect this is early on it's maturity and will continue to improve.

I didn’t believe it till I tasted it. Blinded you would think Le Montrachet. Green golden straw colored. Perfect coloring. Medium to full bodied and RICH. Stone fruits, oily white flowers and rocky minerality on the nose. Acacia, sweet white peach and flint on the palate. OMG this wine is soooo good. The only limiting factor for 97-98 for me was a little bit acidic and thin on the finish. But that’s just me. Smarter people than me ranked this 98+ and i totally get it. Highly recommended. What a treat. Cheers

Just received these wines with my allocation. Very well structured wine which emerges immediately on the nose with a berry nose of cranberry, blueberry and .... yes ...some blackberry. In mouth the wine is creamy loads of acidity (insuring ageability) and mildly present tannins. Fairly significant wine which is worth finding.

A full-bodied and powerful Cab. Very potent alcohol and tannins level. After a reasonable amount of time decanting, the aroma of dark berries and fresh pine come out. Definitely a good wine with long lasting flavors; but it needs ample decanting.

Last bottle of 10. Surprisingly young red fruit on open. Decanted about 6 hours by the time it was consumed. No new notes to add to the community, but I did enjoy the wine. It did go against an '04 Leoville Barton at dinner which was enjoyed more. Onward. M

PNP, and consumed over a 2 hour dinner. Medium yellow. Tight, lemony and flinty nose. Very crisp and taut palate, citrus fruit and chalky with a saline infused texture and good acidity. Not a lot of depth nor complexity, but very solid for the appellation and an absolute steal at $26 on release.
