revisiting this eighteen months later…

fairly similar in the nose and mouth as before:
"strong smokey mineral whiff in the nose that dissipates enough to let the perfume thru: rose petals, blood orange, sous-bois and wisps of clove enhance the red cherry and pomegranate fruit notes. medium bodied in the mouth, it has a decidedly savoury character with green herbal notes mixing in with the fairly rich red and black fruit and spicy accents; noticeable acidity and polished tannins are present but less prominent than a mineral vein that carries thru to a nice long finish."

there is evidence of development in hints of an umami vein.

while drinkable now with good aeration, i would give this another three years minimum to better display its complexity.

Just drank this with great Italian food. 2018 was one of the greatest years for Primitivo at DeLorimier. About 80-85 % Primitivo and 15-20% Petite Sirah from the same Vineyard. Beautiful cherry notes. An incredible, elegant finish made by one of the greatest Primitivo winemakers, Diane Wilson.

This is much improved and accessible since our last tasting two years ago. Paired with a Mediterranean feast of grilled lamb, mixed cheeses, olives, pita, and asparagus. Good blue and red fruit delineation, but the punchline is its incredible concentration, acidity, drinkability, and length. This is a classic, old-school Napa Cab akin to Bordeaux St. Julien or Margaux. Drink 2024-2030. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment scoreL 93.

wow, first (north hemisphere) 2023 wine i taste…

pale pink watermelon colour and light body. a bit of VA and strawberry-scented cotton candy and bubblegum in the nose, along with subtle floral and herbal notes. these carry straight into the mouth with acidic brightness that peels off the confectionary aspect of the nose and shows fresher berries. finishes a bit short.

simple and good Rosé that could probably use a few more months in bottle and climb into the "very good" range.

Wow! Age your good Rieslings. This is delicious, with miles to go.

Peach colored.
Loads of stone fruit, hibiscus, petrol and match book off the nose. Just wonderful.
Perfectly balanced. Great acidity. Yellow apples and more stone fruit. Tastes like the nose with a longish finish. Just a beautiful wine. So damn impressed.

PNP. Another impressive showing. The nose shows flinty lemon, spice and maybe some ginger tea elements. Deep yet crisp palate, citrus and white peach flavors with a lovely glycerol laden texture that flirts with being too rich. Excellent in a decadent style.

golden straw colour and medium body. a bit of oak greets the nose and leads to ripe pear, fresh pineapple with bits of lime zest. silky and fresh in the mouth, an acidic tart pineapple vein mingles with ripe stonefruit and apple flavours. spice and honey accents come in the mid palate. crisp moderate finish.

an agreeable Chardonnay that balances well the freshness with the wood influence and is of moderate complexity. drinks well now and for a handful of years.

Popped and poured. Beautifully translucent. Grenache at the forefront here, both nose and mouth. On the soft, fragrant side of the spectrum. This may grow with airing, but at present it is underwhelming. 5-11-15-6: 87/100.

WCC Syrah from around the world tasting (Clifton Park, NY): Well, this was disappointing to see revealed as '98 Grange - it's a wine that I'd normally be very excited to sit down and drink but this felt a bit blocky and painfully youthful and didn't really distinguish itself from the rest of the flight. The red and black fruit here feels very dense, somewhat monolithic, though there's a high-toned minty and herbal aromatic topnote that adds a sense of freshness. There's also a lot of apparent tannin on the palate, and it still feels like a wine more about potential and promise than immediate pleasure.

Dark fruit with amazing concentration of leather earthy tones. Brown hues on meniscus. It’s the same strong wine I bought 15 years ago. Black cherry, vanilla salinity, mineral chalk tobacco. Aromatic power leads one to not desire drinking this wine. Alcohol provides the backbone of a finely constructed wine. Bravo winemaker! I wash I had a case. Good zin can be aged.

Blooming from the semi-arid landscape of the Elqui Valley, a medium body and silky mouthfeel offer some contrast to the heavy aromas of saddle leather, smoke and wet cedar that posture over a rugged offering of red fruit jams, tar, black cherry and green bell pepper. Wild vibes with a panoramic finish that paints images of desert heat, cacti, clear skies and dry cracked earth giving way to a vino oasis. A great carménère born of a fascinating and rugged growing climate.
