Light yellow colout with a golden hue and fine mousse. Nose is generous, fruity, with notes of peaches, white flowers and some honey and quince. Mouthfeel is dry, generous, fresh and fruity, with great acidity, fine fizz, nice acidity and notes of yellow apples, peaches, apricots, with a long and dry finish.

This is a dry, fresh and excellent sparkler from 100 % chenin blanc from Montlouis. Love it!

Excellent condition. Spicy nose. Medium to full bodied. Drinking beautifully. From Julian

Deep colour, dark plum red, clear 3
Alluring nose. Sweet fruit, floral. Complex. Blackcurrant jam and spice. Toffee. 6.5
Full bodied. Dry. Moderate acidity. Restrained fruit. Slightly astringent. Furry tannin at the tip of the tongue. Good structure. Warm finish. Spicy. It would probably be better with a few more years age to allow the tannin to soften. Try again in 2 years? Will the fruit characters fade or develop? 7.7

N: dark cherry, tobacco

P: more red/black fruit, weak structure, maybe should have decanted longer, but this fell apart on the palate for us.

Very pleasant on the nose though

This wine has really come together. Well balanced, still enticing fruit, backed with enough acidity. Still in its drinking window, probably has a few years left for well-cellared bottles.

Palate
- Medium (+) Acidity

Good intensity of black fruits and sweet oak, smooth tannins, decent length, good nose but lack complexity on the palate. Well balanced between fruit and oak intensity and acidity. Overall a simple, easy drinking table wine, easy to pair with food. Drink now.

Lovely stuff

Nose: dark cherries, spice, cocoa powder and a touch of white pepper

Palate: give it couple hours to air. Great acidic balance. Quite opulent and mouth filling. Black cherries, red fruits, touch of vanilla and cocoa again, earthy and herby/savoury backbone.

Need some more.

Intense on palate, hA, h-B, dry, citrus, grapefruit ...
Wait some years or decant some hours before drinking
This is somewhat closed down at the moment, but good stuff to be unfolded in some years time from now. Then higher score for sure.

Disappointing. Was expecting a richer more complex wine but, while smooth enough, this one was really too "neutral" and could really have been any generic medium-bodies lightly-oaked wine. Not worth the price and would not buy more.

This is a consistent performer. As in previous vintages, a mix of savoury bright black fruit, earth, wet leather and olives with a touch of tar, anise and liquorice on a medium+ bodied palate with a hint of quinine plus a slight infusion of resin toward the finish. Good

Initially tasted when double-decanted at around 5pm, this came across as warm and cuddly, with spicy and sweet kirsch cherry fruit maybe with a hint of liquorice and tar. At the time I felt it should have a little more structure and lift.
The wine, though, was actually consumed at a local restaurant, Tropea, at around 10pm that same evening, some 5 hours later, and what a transformation. Smooth, rounded and svelte with lifted black cherry fruit and subtle grainy tannins. The mouthfeel, structure and length of finish were utterly superb, and quite frankly, this had metamorphosised into an amazing wine. Wonderful. CHP 94 pts

Fresh, fruity and vibrant with gorgeous ruffled tannins, developing a velvety texture tasting of bright red cherry, with an excellent finish. This has matured beautifully, showing little signs of age and is now giving great pleasure. CHP 92 pts

Fresh and linear with lime citrus and a sprinkling of hay, giving a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel. As the wine developed the initially dry sensation became more off-dry, resulting in a lengthy finish that actually felt quite sweet. It had great finesse and lightness of touch, with fine depth and flavour. Personally, I would have preferred a touch less residual sweetness, but nonetheless a very good wine. CHP 89 pts

Maya presented (18-20 DVO) to a small group while in Houston for the Southern Smoke Foundation.

Of the mini vertical I gravitated to 18 for it's tension and 19 due to it's approachability. 20 was an easy drinker but overshowed in the lineup.

Maya walked us through her story and how DVO "DUO" came to be a project and some of the vineyards the fruit is sourced from.

Scoring this wine as it is today but there is no doubt this wine is built for the cellar and will no doubt score higher in the future.

PNP. Very deep dark intense magenta color. Stale raisin, sage, and subtle cinnnamon scone. Dry, plush palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This was a bonus pour at our Arkenstone tasting and I was getting saturated, so my notes don’t do this justice. It’s very elegant. Focus on my score (not my words). ;)

Tons of mineral on the nose, like a pungent, natural-springs level of salty rock mineral. Palate has lychee, sweet corn, maybe some white pineapple but not tropical. Laser focused acidity on the back end. Fantastic complexity for the price point.

Nice nose of bell pepper, red plum, dark plum, cassis. Smooth in the palate with a little coffee, chocolate, and aforementioned fruits. Round and generous with sufficient acid. Medium tannin and medium flavor intensity. I’ll be honest - I bought it for cooking tomorrow but this is a good wine for the price point.

La Conseillante 1971
Part of an old cellar purchase. I got the wines this morning, and stood this up, expecting to drink it this weekend. But after I discovered another bottle from the cellar a 1975 Bouscaut was leaking and tasted DOA so I poured it down the sink. So despite knowing I should have waited, I pulled out the Ah So, and went after the Conseillante. Usually totally reliable, it left a small piece of cork in the bottle. In the end, after some feeble attempts to extricate the cork, I pushed it in, and used a meshed funnel as I decanted that captured almost all of the cork.
So after all the horrible things that I put it through, how did it look and taste?
It was brilliant. The color a clear dark rose, and aromas of smoked meat, flowers and red fruit. Still amazingly fresh, it tasted of the rose hips, spice and fresh strawberries. The finish was long, and layered. Loved the wine, and as it stayed in the glass, it remains fresh, but creeping in were some tertiary aromatics of earth and mushroom. A lovely wine.
It did fade after a couple of hours, but we were savoring the wine, and should have drunk a little more quickly.

This also seemed youthful. I like the 15 Audoin wines much more than the 14's. They seem much better balanced than 14 with more fruit. This was nice with a mushroom strudel.
