I had mixed feeling here. There is a lot of intensity, lot of depth and impressive delineation. But this young, this is just too dense, too intense to be truly enjoyed. One downside is, that I clearly had alcohol heat on the nose (it could not hide the 14% alcohol that well).

Decanting: I would not open this right now, better to wait a decade. If opened now I would give it two hours in the decanter.

Heading south since 2022 tasting.
Still some cherry and hints of loam and mushroom but thin on palate and guts.

Very nice second label offering from this producer. Classic St Julian bottle with cassis, cedar notes. In a good drinking window with a short decant

still going strong - delicious and so very refreshing

Shiny, medium-pale greenish-gold. Citrus, green apple, yellow apple, pear, white flowers, glue, honey and oyster shell. Medium bodied, medium acidity, medium structure, medium alcohol and long finish. Fragrant, sophisticated and feminine. Wonderful floral nose upon opening.

This was a good study in that the 2016s need air. At first a bit muted, quite medicinal and that balanced, this opened up more and more, became more harmonious, refined with the fruit becoming brighter and delicate floral notes coming forward. Very promising but needs time and air. 93+pts

TN: Very intense bouquet with tons of dark cherries, smoke, stems, some menthol. Intriguing but intense and quite ripe nose. On the palate there is a lot of menthol, some medicinal notes, ripe cherries, some smoke and stems atound the red fruit core. Gets rounder and softer with the fruit coming out more and more the longer it sits in the glass. Last sip was best with exploding red berries and floral fruits towards the finish. Lots of finesse and good freshness, airy texture, good balance (with time).

Decanting: At least an hour in a decanter is advised.

Pale faded ruby colour. Low scent on the nose. Pinewood and resin and some herbal notes. Taste muted with not much fruit at all. Oak, lavender, some slight cherries. Probably to many years over the top. Sour acidic but not vinegar. Still it went better after a few hours decanted. The cork was also rather fragile.

At the top level, the 2014s are not ready to drink and this Chevy from Leflaive was another reminder of that. At first closed, it only slightly opened up with time, showing promising complexity and precision, but it yet has to fill out and gain that oomph factor.

TN: At first muted nose, with time a subtle bouquet full of citrus and sea shell minerality. On the palate more concentration, full of fine citrus, some floral notes, minerality and a beauitful salinity. Got better and better and the last sips were quite good to but likely displaying only a fraction of what it has in store in the future.

Decanting: This needed a good hour in the decanter to open up.

This is a very pleasant Chardonnay without the depth and concentration to truly excite, despite coming from this great vintage.

TN: Fine, delicate nose with some smoke, citrus. Not very concentrated but quite pleasant. On the palate full of finesse, delicate citrus, fine chalky minerality, good freshness but missing concentration and more complexity. Quite complete.

Decanting: Not decanted, I would give it a good hour in a decanter.

Tasting through Bruno Clair's impressive 2022 portfolio. There is much to like about the wines and this vintage in general. These are complex, deep wines with an enchanting, bright red fruit perfume. The purity is impressive, and silky elegance can be found in all the wines down to the village level (their Gevrey Village has to be one of the best village level Burgs I've had). The star of the lineup was unsurprisingly their bright, pure and refined Clos de Beze (96pts+), followed by a very promising, slightly more muscular and mineral-driven Bonnes Mares (95pts).

TN: A bit closed nose, strawberries, spices, lots of minerality peak through. On the palate toast, spices, dark red berries, fresher, brighter red berries, gingerbread, minerality, hints of stems. Towering presence and high elegance but will need to flesh out and soften further in the cellar. But the balance is so enchanting, and so is the luxurious tannin structure. Wow, very promising. 95pts with upside.

TN: An intense, expressive, highly refined nose with layers of red berries, pure strawberries, spice and a chalky minerality. Wow, so enchanting. The same complexity and aroma profile on the palate with that very pure red berry core to die for and additional aromas of cola and gingerbread as well as a beautiful salinity. Despite the youth this wine is already so easy to drink with ultra-fine tannins, superb freshness, a silky texture, no excess in any category and quite a perfect balance.

Quite complete and easily 93/94pts.

I enjoyed this in the end for sure, but it was a little difficult to figure out; a strange combo of uncontrolled wildness, rusticity, and hints of beauty that seemed to constantly compete for attention. The nose was so funky/barnyard on opening that I thought it could be flawed; I don't mind funky wine at all as long as it's a part of a larger experience. Thankfully, it slowly blew off (not entirely) to reveal some good fruit and spice; very leathery black plum, figs, that sort of thing, with the salty, funky accent remaining as a shrill topnote that never fully meshed with the deeper, lower fruit. The texture was really nice, some good weight without coarseness- but the acidity was also in a weird spot, almost artificially bright and fruity to the point that my wife dismissed it quickly as cough syrup (I liked it much more than her, but there's no denying the harshness in the finish.) I might have had an off bottle, but I don't think so? I may try another to be sure; or just jump to their flagship someday, since I've yet to try a "higher-end" Priorat and feel like I should.

Med garnet. Mint and cloves. Fresh and deep. Crunchy red cherry and black pepper. Well integrated oak. Serious and complex. High grippy tannin. Long. Needs time.

Short decant. Dark fruit, licorice, leather, barnyard. Starts off relatively funky, cleaner with air. Good length! I am sure this will survive many more years of cellaring, but not sure it would improve.

TN: Wow, super impressive village (coming from very old vines), quite complex, very pixelated and with high precision. A bit muted on the nose, it shows layers of red berries, spices, crushed rocks, some salty notes. It is not as refined as most of the other wines we had, but is very well structured which should guarantee further improvement with further age. 92+pts

TN: Open, expressive nose with spicy bright and dark red berries. On the palate, this is more complex than the other two Marsannay with a broader fruit spectrum, spices, herbs and minerality. Still it slightly weaker than the Langeroise (90pts) as it is a bit wild and not as balanced - but time in the cellar should help here.

TN: A bit muted on the nose right now. The palate shows the potential of this wine much better. Beside some ripe red fruit and crushed rocks, this was the wine in the lineup that had the most prominent oak notes with quite some toast as well as some chocolate notes. A bit atypical in the lineup but still quite good. This was the best of the three Marsannay we had, ahead of the Grasses Tetes (89pts) and Vaudenelles (87pts) which were a bit simpler.

TN: This has a bit a darker red fruit tone than most in the lineup, some good minerality on the mid-palate but is overall a bit simple without much definition and expression. Still, a decent wine without fault.

Really lovely, very ripe with rich dark fruit, but still very clearly classic Bdx with leather, tobacco, and a slightly dried, earthy character. Baked plums and dried cherries galore, great weight without feeling even remotely heavy or boozy. That slight "dried fruit" tone in Bdx isn't always my jam, but here it wasn't overly austere. Not a miraculous wine, just well-priced and delicious.

Medium ruby colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with green bell pepper, red plum, black pepper, tobacco, prune, leather and smoke. Medium (+) with red plum, green bell pepper, black pepper, tobacco, dark plum, blackberry, leather, prune and leather. Long and dry. High acidity. Medium (+) tannins. Full body. A very good Sonoma Merlot. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with beef or lamb.

This has matured into a top class Bordeaux, and makes a mockery of its slaughter by the critics on release. I would advise to pop and pour with the wine, or at the very least, 30 minutes in the decanter. As mentioned in my previous note, the Cabernet Franc is really strutting itelf with prominent bell pepper notes with red cherry and cedar, and really reminds me of Cheval Blanc, in spite of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is exceptional and deeply aromatic, and undoubtedly is the best feature. However, the rest of the experience is tremendous, with a lighter finish preventing a higher rating. 95+

A little structured up and beefed up right now, from Coravin, which doesn't help, so open and let it breath too.

Great PM 1er cru, the Folatieres plot from Jean Chartron is checking all boxes for a nice balanced white Burg: tropical fruit acidity, cream from soft oak, apricot and white peach for fruity sweetness, medium round, powerful long finish.

Nose more shy than palate, but first earthy and later black cherries. Wonderful tasty medium to full bodied palate with bitter cherries. Really some punch ending in a long finish, with great sweet fruit. Theres structure but not a lot of tannins.
10/12 of a case, exiting at release, not the same level last year, and exiting today, but seems to have gained some power.

One of the top single vineyards from Clemens, elegant and pure expression of terroir. Fermented in old large oak barrels for 10 months. Pale straw colour, green hue. Intense aroma of white apricots, wild flowers, wet stone, pears, bergamot. Palate is velvety and elegant, feels bit closed, requires another 3-5 years in bottle. Savoury and spicy flavours intertwined with stone fruits and mineral stony and flinty notes, well integrated medium+ soft acidity.

One of the single vineyards from renowned Mosel producer. Just like all Riesling of Clemens it is pure, polished and signed by envious elegance. Fermented and later aged in large old oak barrels for 9 months. Pale straw colour, green hue. Medium+ intensity aroma of green apple, lemon zest, apricots, wet stone, smoky hibts. Medium body, slightly spicy and tense with light structure but ripe and juicy fruits, pleasantly astringent, medium+ acidity.
Rosé
Its a little touch of RS, making it kinda flabby.
