This is an unexpected Wow! Superb structure, delicious, and of course, a big full bodied mouthful of wonderful fruits of the forest, along with cedar, cake spices and a little saddle leather. There is plenty of acidity and tannin here to balance the gorgeous fruit. Long finish, with touches of complexity. Just starting to enter the drinking window. Drink now and for the next 20 years.

PNP. Beautiful nose, lightly spiced, showing cherry and some bottle funk that blew off quickly. Lithe and silky palate, very typical for the vintage with austere fruit that is slightly tannic and "hard".

For Barolo, soft and easy and delicious.

Beautiful and lovely smelling nose. And so juicy and fresh on the palate.

Very Good++/Excellent-
Another winner from the Fatto a Mano series, which is such a nice part of the Giornata lineup. Stephy recommended with with a mild Thai green curry and so that was part of what we paired it with and she was so right - perfect match.

Note: As with (nearly) all of the wines in this series, if you wish to reduce sediment clouding, consider storing upright for a few days before serving.

Dark berries, some herbs and beautiful oak in the bouquet. On the palate the same berries, juicy and more round acidity than in the 2010, same for the tannin, some minerals. Overall a beautiful and friendly wine which is in its young maturity stage and which will be even more elegant 3 – 5+ years from now.

Settled down quite a bit but still brilliant and spicy.

Pretty ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with red fruits, earth, herbs, spices, tobacco leaf, light barnyard, dark coffee and peppercorn.

Short finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Merlot blend is still harsh, but good with food right now. A little unbalanced, but drinkable nonetheless.

Would be interesting to try it again in 3 years.

A blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah. Aged in steel vats on the lees for 12 months.

14% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$20.

A fruit forward meaty cab frank, enjoyable to be sipped with good acidity.

A funky "Natural" style wine (unfiltered, cloudy in the glass), tasted more like a sour beer, waxy with good acidity.

Dark berries, cedar and licorice in the bouquet. On the palate dark berries like blackberries and licorice as well, some cherries, round acidity and tannin and beautiful bitterness. Youthful wine in its adolescent stage. Will evolve for the better, more elegant stage over the next 5+ years. 92+

Dark purple with long legs. Inky, juicy cassis and dark fruits, a hint of freshly tanned leather, thyme and cigar box on the nose. Medium bodied, juicy and ripe but with great tannic structure and ample acidity on the palate. Long finish. Great value Super Tuscan with a touch of modern Bordeaux.

Great refreshing wine from Campania, good body (med+), good character, good fruit, with great acidity, a must try.

The 2019 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is a beautiful vintage for Valentini, unfurling in the glass with gently reductive aromas of briny green olive, mandarin pith, fresh fennel, fennel seed and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a deep core that's framed by palate-coating reserves of enlivening dry extract, in its aromatic profile and its antimony of texture and mordancy it's uniquely Italian, yet it can stand alongside some of France's greatest whites.

A pleasing, easy to drink fruity Chinon, great for the Pesach seder, highly recomended and fantastic QPR.

Good acidity, good structure, red/black fruits, better than the 19 (had them side by side), some tertiary notes with a pleasing finish.

Slightly reductive on the nose initially, blackberries and tart red cherries. Earth and spice. Caramel!
Quite full for the vintage, lovely pure black fruit, fresh acidity and discreet tannin on the finish, good balance, nicely done.
Red
Dirty, earthy, black fruit galore, a step behind the 20 (had them side by side), but still quite delicious with years ahead.
Red
Unidimensional, unbalanced and super jammy, not for me.

Solid, smooth rose, with big fruit pomegranate, subtle florals, and a crisp finish. Not as tart as I expected, but likely to be gone quickly once the heat of summer gets here.

I guess I’ll just have to keep giving this wine 100 points. I’ve had the privilege of tapping this wine a number of times now, and every time it just kills it. This time, its prowess was tested against some of the best-est bottles in Napa (blind, I might add). And wouldn’t you know it, the Mac was the group’s favorite. (And then a 2021 Mac popped up and that was my ultimate favorite of the favorite of the favorites). How many favorites can one have?! “And you get 100, and you get 100, and you….!” And to be honest, there were a few perfect wines in that 2019 blind lineup. It’s pretty awesome when all the wines you try blind simply rock. 2019 in Napa at the top level is really a stellar vintage.

My initial notes on the 2019 Mac this time around read, “Wow…super yummy choclately chewy unctuousness; not hot or angular at all; alcohol in total check. Slightly sweet in entry, but perfectly poised. Modern and dark but not ‘over-modern’ nor heavy. Black fruit, mineral, soil, more fruit with air. A slight rusticity on the finish that quickly finds a glide with aeration.”

I wonder what it’s like to be a bottle of MACDONALD, making appearances here and there at swanky parties, having everyone tell you that you are the best in the world and doting over every aspect of your presence and personality, being the topic of everyone’s conversation about why you are so super cool. Oh, to be a bottle of MACDONALD. The Emily Blunt of Napa Cabs.

Cold vintage from start to finish. What a difference a year makes. Here more black olive and spice, very dynamic on the palate, really well done. And punctuated on the back of the palate. Young.

Nose is gorgeous with tomato leaf, leather, tobacco, terracotta and spiced cherry - nice balance of earthiness and purity. Good initial intensity on the palate with some orange peel joining the mix but a bitter streak comes in quite early in the mid palate which then thins out. Palate doesn’t deliver as much as the nose promises. Tannins quite prominent still.

Opened this after a bottle of the 2006 Keefer Ranch RRV and this absolutely outclassed it. This is aging beautifully and displays the attractive side of RRV Pinot, with excellent balance, good depth of fruit, and even some "freshness". Great mouthfeel and focus as well. The Keefer Ranch seemed clunky and disjointed in comparison. So sad to have had only this one bottle. RRV Pinot done right.

Co-planted with Viognier. 1 - 3% viognier depending on fruit set. 40 - 60% whole cluster, 16 months in oak, 600 L demi puncheons which keep a ton of tension on the palate, but also gives allot of lees contacts, so builds power but also keeps tension. In an olive direction on the nose and a little reticent. And then a goodly amount of acidity to back it up. Focused, and tight right now.

Slightly brownish rim. Great nose complec aromas. Dried fruit, red fruit, smoke. Everything gets more integrated. Still high acidity. Fresh. Do not mind. Ripe tannins. Round. Good. Franz says 10 of 10 points. I would say very good.

This wasn't terrible, but I think this is good example of RRV Pinot that is not aging well. VA is elevated and a little distracting, the candied fruit character is not particularly attractive, and the alcohol sticks out a bit. Opened a bottle of the 2006 Small Vines RRV right after this and the contrast between the two was stark - the Small Vines has the same RRV flavor profile, but has aged beautifully and just does everything better.

Rosehip and rosewater, tomato leaf as well. Really quite charming. Lovely, light and with lots of depth.

Best before 11/2014; 6,5% alcohol. Full bodied, rather dry and robust, showing vibrant hop, pine and grapefruit with a bit of malty notes and a bitter finish. This is a nice basic IPA from the austere end of the spectrum. A good quaff after the sauna.

Grapes from across the entire property. So a blend of the entire vineyard, a bird's eye view of the entire vineyard. 45% new french, 5 - 20% whole cluster. And that is wonderful smelling Pinot Noir. Pure and crisp and clean to it. And long finish, very young right now but so beautiful.
White
Now the 2020. And this definitely riper, but riper only in the sense of this producer. More structure, phenolic and tannic. Briney,

Opened this at 9am and decanted until dinner. Tannins were quite grippy when the bottle was opened, but wow was this good when dinner came around. Had all the trademarks of good Barolo with notable cherry and tar. This should age well for many years to come. If you drink it now, definitely decant for 4+ hours.

Has a lovely Chardonnay smell to it, and then very vibrant with a clean line and mineral focus. Very fine wine. Maybe could use a bit more flesh, but MAyeb could flesh out further. Excuse me, this review is 2021, on of the coldest vintages they've recorded.

Well balanced right now; notably less oaky than a bottle consumed last year. Nice dark fruit. More of a juicy, refreshing cab which I really enjoyed.
