Fresh and vibrant Aglianico from reliable producer, fermented in steel, aged in FR oak for 18 months plus 9 in bottle prior its release. Deep ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, tar, plums, graphite, spices, undergrowth. Full body, fresh, lively and slightly austere at this youthful stage. Fresh black fruit flavours intertwined with tannic texture and medium intensity acidity, medium finish.

Uncomplicated. Acidic, crisp, pairs well with or without food.

this was much more open compared to hyland the night before. Fruit shined through with a nice streak of acidity that paired well with fish and chips. Thoroughly enjoyed by everybody at the dinner who don’t usually drink wine.

An amazing powerful bouquet of rose and tobacco and warm leather. Gentle and delicate on the pallet with a medium body of dried fig.

This was surprisingly good. We bought this en premier and have been trying it ever since it landed -- it's our wedding year -- and this (our 8th bottle of 12) was by far the best we have had. Decanted for 2 hours, then back into the bottle to take to dinner. Still very dark and relatively unevolved in color, this had a lovely perfumed "classic Bordeaux" nose. Pichon Baron always has lovely purity of fruit, and in this case that has balanced very well with the fundamentally hard nature of the 2002 vintage to create a wine that has oodles of crunchy black fruit with plenty of backbone and "bite." No hurry to drink these; one of the better 2002s we have had.

first bottle of WS from the 2022 vintage and this is pretty good out of the gate but would let this sit for awhile. It’s fairly reductive and took a fair amount of time to open up compared to the justice right now.

Heidi's Crew at St Geneive Minneapolis "quarterly". CV,KB,LI,SS,CS&DD. Tonight was outstanding & so much so, the group voted to meet monthly going fwd. StG's menu tonight screamed Burgundy so that didn't hurt. How often does a Batard-Montrachet show up at a wine dinner??? Maybe once every 3yrs at the ones I frequent? This rare bird was wonderful tonight. Its best traits are its, sense of power, stunning length & fruit complexity. I loved it. Like other Pernots I've had it seems to beg for a bit more freshness & zip. If it had that, it would be a 97pter for me. Still, it outshines many a Puligny Montrachet with its complexity & power. 94-95 Thanks for sharing this Dave D!

A little bit shy at first, but opened up delicately over the first hour. Typical good bouquet with nothing overly remarkable, but with wonderfully balanced acidity, structure, and an elegant and silky finish

Powerful, pretty young, needs time. Tannins still need 3-4 years to resolve. Got better after 2 hours and food but it is away from its primary window. Intense, expressive nose and medium to long finish promise a good future. 92+.

I agree with WINEGUYX's and the previous three tasting notes. This wine truly is an amazing aromatics experience while perfumed and musty at the same time. Unfortunately, the bountiful bouquet doesn't transfer to the somewhat austere palate (not pallet). It's earthy and rustic with dusty, drying tannins and a great qpr @ $30/bottle. More fruit would warrant a higher (two points) score.

Decanted to remove sediment. Opened quickly with a classic Pauillac nose of cassis, cedar, cigar ash, and a pleasing vegetal funk. Not quite as engaging in the mouth, however. Red cherry, sous bois, and charcoal with a bold attack but finishing somewhat thin. Lacked stuffing. Was hoping for more.

Nice. Off-dry, rich, delicious. Maybe more acidity and slightly less sweetness would have been nice

StG's menu tonight screamed Burgundy so that didn't hurt. Clos des Ruchottes, for me, is the sweet spot in Rousseau's lineup for maximum finesse, terroir expression, purity & value. The Chambertin & Beze are usually a bit better still but, this is my personal all-round fav cuvee. Wish, I could still afford them. So a huge thank you to Lonny for bringing this world class example of red Burgundy at its consistent best. Even more so, coming from 2010 vintage! This was a complete delight in my glass tonight. Elegance, finesse, stunning fruit, spice, mineral, hints of Sous Bois on the horizon and unmatched balance. Somewhat trumped tonight by Siggy's phenomenal 09 DRC Echezeaux. Tonight these 2 btls both showed why wine nuts like Lonny and I get hooked on Burgundy. What a night! 96+

Dense luminous crimson red - freshly crushed red berry melange pushes from corkpull - tangy juicy concentrated as a fresh Jamet - gushing with pure deep primary fruit with heaps of fresh spearmint and fresh fragrant flowers swirled in - carbonic in Burg? This fruit bomb has structure too - I mean it must - as the wine fleshes out and feels rather complete on the palate even though the tannins present are completely smothered by the avalanche of fruit. There may be some earthy and spice notes that emerge overtime but at this moment the wine drinks like a most dense and juicy Beaujolais or a juicy fruit CR. Bizarrely concentrated fruitbomby BR - Bravo.

On the nose bright fruit with notes of honey, melon and white flower. On the palate mid weight with light creaminess, lightly oaked with notes of oak, vanilla, honey and white flower.

I found the ‘21 Liminal to be disappointing. I’ve enjoyed Kelley Fox in the past, ie the 2019s, but this seemed diluted / washed out in comparison. There was no obvious flaw with the cork or wine that would point to this being unrepresentative.

The wine showed limited aromatic intensity even as it sat in the glass, but the flavor profile was as I’d expect, with crunchy red berry fruit, spice, and herbal tones. On the palate, the wine was medium to light in body with great finesse, almost no perception of tannin, but lacked concentration. It’s almost like somebody watered down the wine a bit.

What a nice surprise! Drank over two nights with a simple salmon dish with basil butter. An assertive wine. Fruit forward Burgundy that managed to show some minerality common to French chardonnays as well as some "new world" buttery flavor.,Wish we had more!

Glass: Zalto Bordeaux
Tasted 2 x 0,1l from a bottle opened a few days before. Beautiful Auslese R in the making, but not (yet ?) with the electrifying tension and energy I remembered the 2016 vintage when tasted at the winery. Never mind, needs another decade to unfold and for sure there is much to expect. 93-94+

Glass: Zalto Bordeaux
Clear, pale lemon color. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful nose: Pure, clear fruit: vineyard peach and Apricot, orange and citrus zests, herbs and slate. Pretty complex and simply beautiful already.
Medium-dry, high, vibrant and racy acidity, already well integrated. Only 9,5% abv. Pure and intense fruit juice: Peach, Apricot, ripe Apple, fresh herbs and spices mixed with slate notes. Creamy and mouthcoating in the best sense. Never cloying or fat. Intense and delicate, very juicy and joyful and already well balanced. Long, juicy finish. It is certainly still a teen, but makes so much fun already, but will for sure improve over the next decade. Already wonderful 94+ and a great PQR.

Heavier than the classic light extraction seen in many marroneto. Obviously young but tannins in the background. More dark fruit than the brunello. Will be interesting to try again in 5 or so years

Decanted approx. 1 hour. Gorgeous nose which clearly outshone the palate. Sweet perfume of flowers and spice. Bitterness on the palate that kept showing up for me that took away from my overall enjoyment. My guess is more time might take care of that but not sure.

Pretty classic Pauillac, if somewhat foursquare. Smooth red and black fruit and cedar finish. More cedar on the finish. No pencil shavings or cigar wrapper here. I don’t see any “ Lafiteness” here, but a nice dialed-down bottle compared to some of the more concentrated ‘09 monsters served alongside that need years of sleep. 93
