Dark ruby in color. Delicious nose of dark cherry. Palate is packed with dark, tart fruit like a dark cherry jolly rancher and some sandalwood. We liked this wine. I selected it for my next wine class as one of the best from Monterey County.

Dark garnet. Slow fat legs. Full body, blackberry, dark cherry, oak, black licorice. Dry. Soft. Tannins.

Aerated and decanted.

After 2 hours really good!
Red
Dark translucent ruby. Juicy and pretty tasty. We liked this wine. This is the Don Van Staaveran.

This Auslese was the potion of the gods. Over 30 years old, and then so clear, powerful, complex and brought into complete harmony with perfect acidity. Cool, energetic, mouthwatering, the sweetness largely reduced; with a very, very long finish.

Tried alongside the (sadly corked) 2009. Lovely clean claret flavours of tobacco, earth, cedar, mulberry with slightly prominent acidity.
Red
Dark ruby. Dark intense fruit on the nose. Large palate with a dark cherry finish. Some tannin and alcohol on the palate.
White
Has a bitter smoke thing on the back end. A twang that just hits me wrong.

My first Grand Cru Chablis... what a treat... perfect, precise, rich, without anything dramatic, and so enjoyable... waaaaawooooo👏🥂👏

Light bright partially cloudy lemon yellow color.

Medium body. Medium acidity. Mineral. Crispy. Long ending, lovely👏

Wonderfully aromatic, citrus, green tree fruits, lavender, floral, grass 👏

Same richness on the palate: apple, pear, apricot, lemon, lime, citrus, honey, stone, salt, oak, vanilla, butter, toffee, caramel in an intensive yet balanced and harmonic manneer 👏🥂

Slo-oxed for15 minutes, chilled. A more enjoyable (to us) bottle than our previous one as the oak influence was less obvious. A medium yellow in color with some stone fruit on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate yielded yellow stone fruits, yellow apple, lemon creme and balancing acidity. A well-made wine that may benefit from some air time up front and that should hold to the decade mark.

Lots of exotic fruits in the nose. Melon and lychee. The taste is less exotic fruit. There is a minerals with a pear sweetness underneath. Maybe it lacks a bit of complexity. I like it, but not sure I would buy again.

Opened the day prior (Vacuvin’d overnight). The color is what Bevan calls “bull’s blood”. Plum skin, dark raspberry Fruit Roll-up, chaparral, spicy cocoa, sea salt, and subtle forest floor. Dry, satiny palate, with nice, lingering acidity. Very full (and somewhat firm) tannins on the longish finish.

This is still youthful, but it’s got amazing structure and very pleasant spiciness. Would have purchased if prices hadn’t increased mid-vintage.

Incredibly beautiful and balanced! If modern CdP drank like this, I would like the region much more. For my taste, this is at its peak, but it has the acidity and structure to keep going.

My main wine selection for my mom’s birthday dinner at MesaMar Coral Gables. Opened at 4pm and started drinking around 5:30 until 7pm.

The nose is delicate and inviting, full body, tons of tannin and acidity but everything well integrated, nothing is out of place here. The oak and dark fruits come along with a touch of dark chocolate, leather and tobacco. Great lingering finish.

Drink or hold.

All I could have expected from my first Tempier with significant age. Dusty, funky, floral, and powerful. Understand the obsession with these wines.

I had this wine a year ago and tasted blind within many other other pinots and it stand out. Very accesible, black plumbs, cassis, juciy fruit, pepple stone and sous-bois, slightly greenish hint and herbs. With time you can recognise tomato leaves and green pepper. But wow, really dense but as well precise fruit. Soft tannins and great drinking flow. Has great potential to age.

Quite nice for a cheap Bordeaux. Certainly had the tertiary notes as well as graphite, but also some black berries and fruits and mint chocolate. Tannins softened, acdiity balanced, and the finish is decently long. Start drinking.

One of the best wines I have had. Did not show age for hours and truly lived up to the mythical status that has been given to it. Has years, if not decades left in it! Would love to find more!!!

Lots of fresh cherries, elderberry, cassis, roasted poblano, toasted rosemary, fresh cinnamon.

Slo-oxed for 15 minutes (based on previous TNs), chilled. Some red cherry and citrus on the nose. The medium bodied palate showed light strawberry and red cherry notes, some minerality, lemon citrus and relatively balanced acidity. The wine was light and refreshing and should continue to hold through the summer of 2024.

Young, but approachable, certainly with a good ribeye. Chocolate, tobacco, sweet black fruit, intense, concentrated. Will keep well for 10 years, hard to resist now - nor should you.

One of my wine selections for my mom’s birthday along with 2009 Merus. Opened for one hour and 15 minutes before starting dinner at MesaMar.

Cloudy gold and pale yellow, nose of wet grass and grapefruit, the palate is very tropical with grapefruit, lemon, pineapple and green apple. The body is medium and bright acidity. Should keep on drinking well for the next 5 years or so…

PNP. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, cassis, chocolate, bran muffin, and subtle toffee. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This is a nice, solid, entry-level, Bevan-made CS. It was the warm-up bottle at my recent Addax tasting.

No decant

N…not much

C….golden, looks medium to heavy body

T…..sweeter than I expected, plus a weird slightly chemical impression, lacks charm or interest. Some length, a bit of butterscotch, bit of spice but that sweet cough syrup too! Some acid but not enough, zero minerals.

QPR?…..feels worth £15.00, I won’t buy it again.

PNP. Very deep dark intense magenta color. Black cherry, vanilla fondant, blackberry, river rock, rose petal, and subtle Indian five spice. Dry, silky palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. 55% CS, 40% Merlot, and 5% CF

There is no potential in my score. This is drinking well now and it will clearly improve with more time. Tasted this at Elyse/Addax/Institution.

PNP. Opaque purple magenta color. Fresh blackberry, lingonberry, caramel, chaparral, cola, and dark chocolate. Very smooth, dry palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the long finish.

Very well built Napa CS. This Addax first vintage with Sage Ridge fruit. My score is just a placeholder. The wine is still quite primary and not truly in its drinking window.

Nose is quite shy, but theres first a whiff of lemon and some melon. Fresh palate with fine energy and intensity, with a lot of citrus and great acidity in the fine finish. Today not the most complex in terms of flavors, but a Meursault village with class.

A mature Bdx that's a happy wine for a happy pinchos Friday evening with Netflix after a rather intense work week.
Little too acidic to be well balanced. A bit short. But other than that a solid mature medium Pomerol from a medium vintage.

Good price/performance

Nose has some weight to it. guava, rich yellow notes, maybe lemon compote, I want to sip it.
Palate is rich, layered, complex, touch of heat but not distracting, long luxurious finish.
I like it but I think the Froide is the better wine from this maker.

Contracted producer: Louis Barruol, Saint Cosme Estate.

Decanted 30 mins including some swirling. Wine Soc recommended 1 hr.

Cepage: mostly Grenache.

N….lacks any charm, a whiff of alc, some fruit. Boring.

C….middle red, a hint of age on the edge though not even beginnings of brick

T…..pretty Dry on the scale, feels still immature even though 7 yrs old, some inky fruit concentration; enough ripe fruit and enough depth, some nice gentle tannins, alc is a bit warm. Some earthy minerals and savoury character, a few spices, a touch of orange peel/bitter choc-mocha. Seems more a Foodie style than a happy glugger.

Feels like cellaring will be rewarded with a better wine.

QPR?…..costs £19.00, feels worth £15-18.00, I will buy again in reported good vintages.

Some reduction in the nose, although able to detect some fruits and herbasious notes. It is not the classical Hydrogen Sulfide "blocked drain/sewer/rotten egg" smell but a more gentle musky, rural Brettanomyces smell.
The wine is satisfactory in the mouth, considering the difficult year. Fruit forward but simple, light in body, and at the best medium finish.
Does not get anyway near the producer Alliiet.
This wine is clearly "lightly faulty" meaning it still drinks well with ok fruit...
