Received as a gift, coravin'd a glass 2 separate evenings before pulling the cork tonight. Raspberries, fig jam and barrique on the nose.

While the tannins aren't as evident as the first time I cv'd a glass, the wine itself is well balanced and an easy quaff. This is a solid high-production wine thats reasonable by Napa standards.

Smooth, fruity, full-bodied but not overwhelming. Would buy again.

First vintage port. Vibrant ruby red red in the glass. Poor shows that not nearly as viscous as an aged port. Light aromatics. Medium body. Rich cherry notes with some plum and vanilla. Too much fruit for what I’m looking for in when I reach for a port. I’m assuming that has to do with age vs. quality. Quality seems like a very pure and balanced just more fruit than what I’m looking for.

It took me forever to figure out that this was a screw cap top no cork. Worth the effort. With roasted chicken.

Good, but not smooth. Least favorite of the Burgundy wines from this distributor. The white from the same vintner was much better.

I had the 2019 and 2020 back to back, and the 2019 is showing much better now. See my '19 review there. Is it one less year in the bottle, or is it the vintage? I think it is the vintage. The 2020 seems more austere and green, less fruit, more spice. I not a big fruit fan. But having more fruit in the '19 helped keep it more balanced than the '20. Both vintage still show the pleasant touch of brett and 12.5ABV that i find and like with this producer. 90pts. I don't need more of the '20 and I would wait another year or 2 before opening another.

Started off showing a fair bit of sous bois and earth. It breathes up nicely and becomes more nuanced. Cherry fruit intensifies at its core. There's a cool, stoniness lurking. It is mid-weight but has decent intensity. It is quite linear and finishes with plenty of savoury and spice nuance.

Too big, one note, and hot for me. I used to like this wine, but I think both the wine and my palate have changed over the years.

NR - this was a puzzling bottle. Not giving much on the nose or palate, but it didn’t seem tired and done. Didn’t feel corked or otherwise compromised lVery dense and with a green, bitter note on the finish that wasn’t nice.

An excellent bottle, and one that will age well. Displays a medium-light straw yellow color at the moment. The nose is very Burgundian: burnt caramel, lemon cake and bitter orange. Quite restrained on the oak and the fruit. The palate exhibits great depth with a richness complimented by a wonderful tension, minerality and “dryness” resulting in a really terrific structure. Yet is still retains a bit of a California terroir with a strong backbone and approachable style at a relatively young age. Will be great in 5 to 10 years as everything further integrates. Not sure how they make it so special - apparently only 15% new oak, so perhaps that’s it. Anyway, very enjoyable, loved it, highly confident it will score 94+ at peak.

Farmer's fizz is what the back label calls it! It certainly is a fun easy going bottle. Nothing serious but then who cares! Throw it all together and see what happens.

A new varietal for me. Kind of a cross between a sangiovese and a pinot noir. Good cherry fruits up front with some baking spices behind. Medium bodied and nice acidity, medium finish, solid but approachable tannins.

Super! Apricots, canned peaches, straw in the barn, and a hint of petrol. Peaches, dried apricots and candied lemon tastes. Super balance, with good supporting acid and clean pure finish that goes a long time. Can age another ten, at least.

A sweeter version of sauvignon blanc. Not sugary, but notes on the nose and mouthfeel, but it does have acidity to stand up to food.

A beautiful wine with promise of only getting better over time. Took about 45 minutes to open up but the nose was full of dark fruit and very little leather and herbs. The flavors followed with dark plum and blackberry fruit and has a beautiful layered tannin base with some great acid connections giving it a fantastic long finish of that dark fruit. A lovely tasteful wine! Napas finest!!

I use to think that Pfeiffer was particularly good value for money but then they went ahead and sold themselves to King Estate (?). Anyway, I guess the deal allowed them to keep their existing inventory and all of a sudden it seemed the prices doubled (or even more!). I understand that that doesn't change the wine in the bottle and this wine was very nice - not much of a hint of oak, and lots of raspberry, strawberry and maybe even a little cherry. But QPR is totally gone.

What a dessert wine should be. Enough sweetness and alcohol to stand up to a rich sweet dessert dish but without being cloyingly so, but also enough acidity and tannins to keep it interesting and complex.

Well ill be damned! I thought this would be dead and gone but it was not! I always take stabs at old CA 'Burgundy ' at auction when the price is right, as I've found that they often time over-deliver. I picked up this magnum for super cheap with very low expectations (I mean the label literally calls it 'premium generic wine', ha!), but when the cork came out in excellent shape and the wine poured a light reddish color with some slight browning and a nose full of cherries, spice, and autumn leaves, I got a little more excited. In the mouth, this is actually really good! Not even just interesting....but good! Black cherries, tart cranberry, a tiny bit of smokey leather, and a (believe it or not) slightly tannic finish! More than enough acidity and I'm loving the 11% abv! No idea what this wine is or was intended to be....but I highly doubt the winemaker was thinking 'I hope this drinks well 45 years from now' , ha! Cheers to nice surprises and those fun nights when the wine Gods smile down upon you when you probably don't really deserve it!

Lightly golden in color, crushed fruit on the nose, then some nicely rich fruit, with excellent acidity, not overly complex but does offer some attractive layers that unfold in the mouth. Quite tasty, and easy to drink.

‘21 Chase Cellars Gold Strike. Always a fun blend of Syrah, PS, Merlot and Zinfandel. Lots of fresh red raspberries, cherries, black pepper, slightly oily feel, but nothing bad. Hints of blueberry pancakes, vanilla cookies, little bit of spicy oak with fine acidity and ripe tannins on medium finish.

@ Nougatine Jean-George’s NYC. This is literally in the perfect spot for Baby Muz (noted on the 15-20 year from vintage peak window for future reference). A seductive, Amoureuses-like nose with just enough darkness and spice to remind you this is indeed from the Musigny side. Ultra-fine tannins gripping like miniature sandpaper throughout the mouth. A lovely and measures secondary fruit dominates. What really made this one special was towards the final pours a new, reinvigorated bite of almost chili pepper spice emerges for a last bite - extremely exotic. I found this better than many younger Vogue VVs which probably just means these demand 25-30 years of bottle age to shine.

Deep gold. Quince, dried apricot, honey, nuts, citrus oil on the nose. Nice density of honeyed dried fruit on the palate, medium plus acids, low alcohol (13%), unctuous texture. Complex and balanced.

An outstanding QPR Sauv Blanc with a brilliant straw hue that opens with refreshing citrus aromas. Lemon lime and soft herbal flavors with crisp mineralization balance nicely due to the non-oak fermentation. A delicious and broad food-friendly wine.

This is an ultra flavorful Picpoul! Potently fruity, with a big hit of pineapple backed by Meyer lemon. Some pastry notes come along mid palate. Good acidity. This is fleshy and rich without being overblown. A very pleasant surprise.
