Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: 3 Guys, some wine II (Asperg):
Glass: Zalto Bordeaux / Burgundy
Popped and poured. Drunk over several days. Clear, deep, garnet-tawny color with orange reflexes and fine grained sediment. Clean, medium+/pronounced and fully developed nose with lots of red fruit, herbs, oak, tar, menthol, leather. Ripe, complex, dense and wonderful.
At first, I was a bit scared about the high, 14,5% abv alcohol, but this fear was without any reason. The high, perfectly integrated acidity masked the high alc almost completely. High, silky-velvet tannin. On the palate lots of red and dark fruit, herbs, menthol, tobacco, licorice and some espresso. Very deep and complex, but also wonderfully balanced and with a great, velvet texture. Some extract sweetness. Great pressure and power. Finish is very long, fresh and multi-layered. Already drinking beautiful, but no need to hurry, maybe there is even more to come. 94-95
