Aired for 3 hours before dinner. Sediment. Nose: Beautiful 8/10. Cherries, violets. Palate: 8/10. Medium-full body. Smooth, polished, elegant. Soft enveloping tannin. Wet stone undertone. Great acidity. Finish: 8/10. Price: 7/10 ($131 in 2023). Enjoyment: 8/10. Would buy again: Try other vintages.

Good fruit; pleasant, but this bottle was not the equal of others I've had. A bit awkward in the finish. Seems at peak now.

Last bottle of this wine and it's still drinking beautifully. Savoury and refined with some red cherry fruit but tertiary flavours of umami and forest floor more prominent.

Ultra tight and super immature. Pino which was an error. Started to show signs of awakening after 2-3 hours but this was premature. If you drink now, decant for two hours minimum. I will wait another 5 years for the next bottle. Maybe in a dormant phase, but hold off either way.

Decanted 2 hours. This wine continues to drink very well with notes similar to my last tasting in 2015: vibrant dark fruit, cassis, damp earth with hint of spice and cedar. Tannins are silky and well integrated with long finish. Paired with venison osso buco over linguine.

Pnp. Deep ruby color, no bricking on the edges in the glass. Blackberry, black cherry and cigar box on the nose. Blackberry, cherry and dusty earthiness on the palate with a nice long finish. CdN never disappoints. I haven’t had a CdN 2012, but it was fantastic. Glad I have a few more.

With FC and AW at Vivat Bacchus. This is quite mature on the nose with dark fruit, black olive, balsamic notes. Becoming more balsamic quite quickly. Full bodied, dark fruit, quite rich but has lost the full on nature it had in its younger days, balsamic notes, touch of heat, medium/good length finish. Just about hanging on but drink up.

Typical CdN - elegant, grippy, fruit everywhere, very very Modern, perhaps too much for me? Still trying to decide, but definitely lean Traditional. Nonetheless, obviously world-class wines and look forward to drinking the remaining in about 10 years.

Dark ruby, expected quite some oak but actually it was rather integrated. Fresh plumb, dark cherry on the nose, recognizably casanova style, and on the palate excitingly subtle and delicate. Freshness, as expected, on par for the vintage, medium and little chalky tannins (also classic CdN) and medium + finish. Starting to enter drinking window and very pleasurable.
Drank along with thai, of course the spices drowned the wine, but afterwards the wine aroma came out with alot of blueberry which was surpising but really nice.
Edit: day two, the wine seems to lose more than expected conplexity. Still good base, pleasing as its style is. Score from 93 to 92.

I love this wine's openness and richness which derives from it's south Montalcino home. It's a beautifully seductive wine which doesn't score higher as I feel that it is a bit hefty and missing that ethereal, something untouchable below the surface that elevates a wine to the realms of greatness.

However, I am enjoying this very much as I write as it has plenty of freshness still it's tertiary notes are beginning to show. Liquorice, prune, cedar sap, dark cherry, mushroom and wild violets. The tannins are just about resolved and I imagine this will be drinking at it's peak (for those of us who like our wines with age) by and just beyond it's 20th birthday.

Lovely stuff and a very '2006' Brunello

Pnp at a restaurant. I was a little worried about how this one would be given some recent comments on CT. CdN is one of my favorite brunello producers, so I wanted it to be good. I have enjoyed a few other bottles of this vintage, but hadn't had one in a while, and this was my last one. Had a backup 2010 Lisini in case.

Some bricking around the edges and a nice cherry aroma in my glass, so far, so good. Nice cherry notes up front with some dried cranberry. Cherry and leather on the finish which was mid weight. Success, I was very happy, it went really nicely with my pork ragu. Everyone was in agreement, it was very good. Unfortunately, only had the 1 glass.

I think this one has maybe another year at the most.

Trinkfenster startet ganz langsam. Unbedingt vorher dekantieren.

Great bouquet of ripe berries, prunes, pipe tobacco, spices. Wonderful bouquet, silky, smooth, sweet, dark berries, jam, hedonistic, spicy, leading to a long finish. Relatively dark, yet with nice fruit and sweetness as well as a nice acidic bite.

Finally starting to open up. Stunning nose of roses, leather and sanguine. The palate is so beautiful and silky with the freshest berries and coffee. No rush but with a little bit of air this is an absolute stunner.

Impressive flavour and presence. Full and dark fruited. Way to soon to drink but I am not sure one might not live with the tannins as they may outlast the fruit,

This is a medium garnet colored wine. It was given a two-hour decant. The flavors are very varietal with blackberry, dark cherry, black pepper, tomato leaf, and some slight cedar. The body is rich and full with fresh acidity. The wine has a layered structure with tannins bringing some medium astringency. Overall this is a distinguished wine that's just coming into its drinking window with a lot of life remaining.

Young, but so good. Red/black cherry dark plum fruit up front. Notes of savory herbs, tobacco, violets, and leather. Big and bold right nowat 12-years of age but give it a good decant if you're going to drink one now. Firm acidity and tannins with a wonderful long finish. I would let this one sit another few years...glad I have more.

Big wine and still tasting and looking fresh. Deep black and blue fruit flavors, earth and balsamic notes. My wife’s first comment on tasting was “well, that will wake you up.” I don’t think she meant it in a good way. I liked it fine but it became a bit one-dimensional as the evening progressed. And, it got slaughtered by the 2004 Mascarello Monprivato on the table which was compellingly elegant.

Dalla Terra Portfolio tasting (Nostrana, Portland OR): The nose takes it up a clear level from the previous wines as there is just a different level of depth to the tones of dark red cherries, plums, dark red berries, raspberries, cranberries, licorice, liqueur notes, herbal spices, sweet tobacco, violets, toast notes, and a dose of oak that lurks underneath the richer fruit tones. The Full bodied feel is larger scaled and with a slight brutish quality while the medium+ acidity is mouthwatering and the medium+ tannins have a bit of chewiness to them. This needs the better part of 5+ years to round into form. The oak is more noticeable on the nose than the palate which gives me some hope that it can integrate with time.

Beautiful bouquet with dark and red berries. On the palate sweet spices, dark and red berries, chocolate, beautiful acidity and soft, round tannin. Delicious wine in its early maturity stage and in a good drinking moment now.

Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: 3 Guys, some wine II (Asperg): Glass: Zalto Bordeaux / Burgundy
Popped and poured. Drunk over several days. Clear, deep, garnet-tawny color with orange reflexes and fine grained sediment. Clean, medium+/pronounced and fully developed nose with lots of red fruit, herbs, oak, tar, menthol, leather. Ripe, complex, dense and wonderful.
At first, I was a bit scared about the high, 14,5% abv alcohol, but this fear was without any reason. The high, perfectly integrated acidity masked the high alc almost completely. High, silky-velvet tannin. On the palate lots of red and dark fruit, herbs, menthol, tobacco, licorice and some espresso. Very deep and complex, but also wonderfully balanced and with a great, velvet texture. Some extract sweetness. Great pressure and power. Finish is very long, fresh and multi-layered. Already drinking beautiful, but no need to hurry, maybe there is even more to come. 94-95

PNP. Classic Brunello notes, albeit ramped up a notch. Tannins slightly unresolved. Having said that, a beautiful example of a modern style BdM. Plenty of time left on this beauty, but good to go now. Perhaps the Casanova style shows better in an off vintage.

Previous times I have had this wine were among the best BDMs I have had. This bottle, my last, was toast. Undrinkable. A sad ending to an otherwise unprecedented run of amazing bottles. Presumably due to bottle/cork variation, but I might consider drinking on the sooner side, particularly based on how amazing previous experiences were.

Opened 4hrs ahead, 2hrs in the decanter. Even still, the nose was pretty closed and the wine felt young. Kids are screaming in the background and you’re trying to catch up with an old friend. Amidst all this you take a sip and the wine just knocks you back in your seat, conversation breaks to a halt. It has that hallmark of great wines, the combination of power, elegance and length. Even though it’s closed and too young, its qualities are obvious: Amazing acidity, a hedonistic red and dark fruit that’s just so…sexy for lack of a better word, but never too much. After rigorous swirling more classic brunello notes, some VA. I would say cellar 3-5yrs more.
