Lighter, oddly almost Grenache in style. Light color with great fruit.

A great Sangiovese that I chose to open at a wine event since it typically isn’t something most people know Pride produces. The experience and flavor profile resonated with most really well at the party. A unique bottling and was cherished by those who tasted it.

Translucent color looking more like Pinot Noir than a wine that is made from Pride Mountain. That said, don't let the color fool you. This has more power and umph than the color suggests. Mostly red savory fruit with a semi-sweet finish. It needs more time in the bottle to settle down but considering this is a '21, it is drinking ok now. Having tasted a few California Sangiovese's in the past (Altamura, Staglin, Pride, Castello di Amorosa, etc), my conclusion is that Sangiovese should stay in Tuscany and the attempt to make a 'boutique' and hard to find wine in California is nothing more than the commercial engine that is the American wine industry. If you have $100 to spend on Sangiovese, you can save $20 - $40 and have exponential levels of enjoyment if you buy some Constanti or Valdicava Brunello or even save $60 by drinking some great Chianti Classico. While I love Pride Mountain for what they are known for with Cab. & Merlot, I will not be buying anymore of their Sangiovese much less buying it from anywhere else in California.

Drank at Jim E.'s 75 birthday. Well integrated and enjoyable wine. Will buy and hold again. I think a few years in the cellar helped.

An aromatic of grape jelly starts this wine. In mouth it is evident that the wine has youthful elements building on those youthful grape jelly points. Starts with lively acidity and fruits of blackberry jam and ripe strawberry. Really an awesome young wine which needs TIME to settle. I would not open for 1-2 years from now. In fact maybe try then but retry in 3 years.

Delicious Sangiovese! It’s true to the Pride’s tasting notes - the ripe raspberry & molasses are there and the overall balance do give it a rich & lush texture. I think a little extra time in the bottle had me enjoying it more than the last time I enjoyed one.

Drank out of a 500ml bottle. Best on day one. A 95 on day one. A 92 on day two. So drink it all on night one if you can. Cherry notes on day one with perfectly balanced acidity. Lots of fruit on the nose.

Syrupy sweet. All overripe fruit, no depth. This tastes like $15 Shiraz.

Really nice, big mountain fruit I like from this producer, but really smooth and mellow in the Sangiovese. Goes down easy and smooth

Recently purchased from Benchmark for $25, and I was a bit concerned it was over the hill. It was NOT!
An amazing amount of fruit for a 15 yr old wine.
Cherry, boysenberry, oak, earthy, red berries,
One of the best sangioveses I've had in some time (although we did rarely drink them).
Long finish, with a touch of complexity.

From a 500ml bottle. This is ina great spot right now. Rich fruit aromatics with baking spice, strawberry, and plum. On the palette more of the same with ripe blackberry added to the strawberry. Creamy and worth finding.

Surprisingly good after years in the cellar. Well balanced with fruit still there. Dark fruit like blackberry, tobacco, and firm tannins. Not a light Sangiovese. This is big, bold Sangiovese that is ideal for Napa cabernet lovers. A second bottle had a failed cork as was undrinkable. If the cork is still intact, this wine can go for a few more years in the bottle.

Very dark red black color, opened 2 hours before dinner which opened up the aromas, ripe luscious blackberry and dark cherry fruit with some earthiness, very smooth mouthfeel with a long smooth finish. Great with some braised lamb shanks.

Last bottle from a few bought at auction, 500ml bottle. PnP, drank over 90 minutes

From prior notes:"rich purple color. Nose of dark cherry, blackberries, toasted oak. Fruit forward palate of red fruits, strawberry jam, spices, cedar. Really rich and expressive, was great with rich/spicy food..."

Picked up a bit more earth along with the dark cherry on the nose this time. Wine has a sweetness to it through the mid palate, cherry cola and blackberry. Medium weight, long finish. When first opened it was a bit tight, the air time helped, it was really open about 30 minutes in. Still holding up, but would drink sooner rather than later

Ruby in color with aromas of tea, floral notes and a hint of vanilla. On tasting, I picked up cherries and mild raspberries. The body is medium/full with a silky texture and a medium long finish. Tannins are fine at this stage and it has, in my opinion, hit its "drink now zone”. The wine is balanced and paired great with a 28 day dry aged prime ribeye, seared in a very hot (500 deg) cast iron pan.

Popped and poured this awesome Pride Sangiovese along side an Italian Chianti from 2014. Deep, dark and clear purple color. Initial nose of blueberry, hint of cedar and floral notes. Very well balanced, nicely dry Sangiovese character but with a bit of welcome sweetness. Rich flavors of dark fruit, tobacco, plums and ripe dark cherry. The added Cabernet rounded this one out perfectly. It was a hit at the table. It comes in a 500mL bottle from Sonoma. Don’t hesitate to drink this now, it is delicious.

500ml bottle; nice earth and cherry nose; big extracted/sweet cherry and raspberry cough syrup with pepper and menthol. This overpowered the savory chicken/pasta/morels, even on day 2, but after 30 each nite, my mouth adapted. This is Pride does sangiovese, and nothing like a brunello, but it is fun to drink. Plenty of structure, so will hold last bottle for a few years.

Bought this at auction a few years back. Opened to have with my "famous" meatballs. Decanted for about 30 minutes and drank over an hour. 500 ml bottle, they must have wanted to stretch the distribution of this unique offering from Pride.

Rich purple color. Nose of dark cherry, blackberries, toasted oak. Fruit forward palate of red fruits, strawberry jam, spices, cedar. Really rich and expressive, was great with rich/spicy food. Really opened after about an hour, decant helped. In a great spot now, would drink in next 3-5 years.
