Flight 1 (9 notes)

White
2010 Dönnhoff Riesling Germany, Nahe
83 points
Sourish on the palate. The high acid vintage character definitely shows here although not to the point of being distracting. Fresh and light bodied. I preferred the roundness of the 09. Not particularly distinguished but good all the same for its level.
White
2010 Dönnhoff Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett Germany, Nahe
84 points
A small step above the basic Qba. Hint of sweetness with loads of acidity. The acidity gives it a sense of precision. Rather lacking in the complexity factor though. Enjoyable but not particularly distinctive.
White
2010 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett Germany, Nahe
85 points
I really like the texture here. Silky and oily mouthfeel. Good acidity balanced with barely there sweetness. Very good example of a Kabinett. A small step above the Krotenpfuhl.
White - Off-dry
2008 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
85 points
Rather green on the nose. Inadequate ripeness from the vintage? Not as sweet as expected. Lightish for a Brücke. However, this still has depth within it.
White - Off-dry
2008 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
87 points
Gentle with good core of minerality. Balanced with enough tension to make it interesting. A moreish wine which you can gulp down glass after glass. A quiet and serious wine.
White - Off-dry
1997 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
90 points
This wine is straddling at the stage where the primary starts to meld into the secondary. Sweet fresh fruits coupled with depths of aged complexity. A wine drank at the perfect time. Mind-blowing!
White - Off-dry
1994 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
84 points
Almost totally dry. Copperish color. Completely secondary now. Exotic taste of citrus peel and dried apricots. Not really to my taste but definitely an experience to taste it.
White - Off-dry
2010 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel Germany, Nahe
89 points
Not as sweet as expected probably from the acidity of the vintage. Balanced, classy and understated. Still rather reserved. Would do with more age.
White - Off-dry
2003 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel Germany, Nahe

Dark yellow. Nose is ripe and very alluring. Palate as expected from the vintage was ripe and intense. Some might feel that it is clunky but I like the character here. Good freshness coupled with great concentration. A little matured flavors here and could easily be mistaken for a Beerenauslese.
