Copper colour. Very rich and alluring aromas; some sweet berries, rust, and a hint of brioche. Sweet and fresh. One complaint is that this is slightly lacking in acidity and (ok, two complaints) this is obviously currently very primary. Simply delicious though, and a little bit of bottle age will do wonders to round this out. Not a wine for oysters or anything else requiring a strong acidic bent; try this with poultry or a leaner fish.

Slight tinge of green. Very perfumed nose, with some floral notes, as well as ripe stone fruit. A hint of almonds and spice. On the palate, there's a surprising amount of sweetness, even for a spaetlese. Definitely has the ethereal quality that Doennhoff is renowned for. Ripe stone fruits on the palate, with a pleasant but not overbearing vein of acidity. That this is missing a sharp acidic cut makes this wine just shy of greatness.

What a classical nose. Definitely a ringer for the left bank. Very austere, with lots of graphite, cedar, and a hint of stems. You can smell the tannins. Unfortunately, the palate seems a little bit thin compared to the intense, awesome bordelais nose. A little watery, and very leathery, with the balance of fruit already faded away. Tannins are quite refined and smoothed out. Some green notes that show off some cabernet franc influence.

Reticent nose with the aroma of roses. Some secondary aromas as well, with some dusty notes. On the palate, this is very fruity, with some sweetness. Seems to be in a very good place right now. Lovely yet chewy tannins with a pleasant finish. Slightly spicy as well.

Very earthy and dusty aroma, with lots of mulch and mushroom aromas. A little hit of volatile acidity too. Otherwise, this has a classic Burgundian nose. On the palate, there is a lot of earthy flavour, as well as a very powerful vein of acidity. A little bit of Vosne spice, but it isn't in your face. A little harsh on the alcohol; this seems a bit disjoint. Just slightly off-kilter.

Very pale in colour. Tyical nose of green apple, toasted brioche, and a good hit of yeast on the nose. On the palate, there is a bit of licorice, as well as flavours of pineapple. Very light on its feet, this is a sleek champagne with very fresh flavours and a medium-length bready finish.

From the Clarence Day cellar. Surprisingly not excessively tertiary. Spicy nose with notes of cough syrup, black cherries, and cedar. On the palate, there doesn't seem to be much left, A little dried out, there isn't much fruit left, and there are a lot of rust flavours. Tannins are obviously gone. Like a very interesting yet homely girl.

From the Clarence Day cellar. Very dark in colour with only moderate bricking. Some rotten vegetation aromas, and if it weren't for a bit of bordelais cigar smell, one could be forgiven for thinking that this is Burgundy. Slightly more acidic than its older brother that was tasted alongside, and not has interesting as it seems all that has remained is the acidic streak.

Pale straw. A very modest nose with some honeysuckle and yellow stone fruit aromas. On the palate, this is also a very quiet and unassuming wine. A little hint of sweetness with eggshell delicacy and clover flower flavours. Serene and delicious.

Slight tinge of purple still. Rich nose with typical characteristics of graphite, and some blackberry notes as well. On the palate, this is a classical Pauillac, with pretty good balance all around though there is a bit of emphasis on sweet red berries. Smooth tannins, but this is still quite a beast and will require a little bit more time to tame it.

No significant signs of bricking. Very spicy, fruity nose with a little bit of chlorine. Some stewed qualities. Pretty sweet and spicy on the palate, but there isn't much else to be said about this. Feels porty without any sweetness. Restrained for a CdP.
