The Janselijn Wijnen tasting (www.topbourgognes.nl) was a fabulous event.
On table bottles of producers like, Bachelet, Fourrier, Dugat, Perrot-Minot, Rouget, Tremblay, Noëllat, Méo-Camuzet, Ponsot, Colin-Morey, Piuze, Jobard, Buisson-Charles and Ente.
The event was held at the (www.sottolounge.nl) the venue was super! Many thanks to Janselijn Wijnen - Top Bourgognes for organising this event.
Flight 1 - Côte d’Or Whites (7 notes)
2010 Arnaud Ente Meursault
A blend of 70% En l’Ormeau and 30% Casse Tête. A very precise nose of lime, apple, fresh pear and chalky minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, with superb minerality, brisk acids and laser like focus on the finish. Absolutely brilliant for their appellation.
2010 Arnaud Ente Meursault Clos des Ambres
A complex nose of apple, lemon peel and intense stoniness. On the palate the wine is, full-bodied complex and very precise, with brisk acids on the long finish. A sparkling expression of terroir and premier cru quality.
2010 Benoit Ente Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières
A superb nose of lemon, orange peel and wonderfully chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, exceptional intensity, ripe acids and superb length and grip on the finish. This Les Folatières en la Richard is a wine of great purity and elegance.
Flight 2 - Côte d’Or Reds (13 notes)
2011 Domaine Anne Gros Nuits St. Georges Les Damodes
Interesting nose of black cherries, with a touch of soil and dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is complex, full-bodied, very pure with ripe fruit and silky tannins, great balance and a long finish. A very good Nuits village.
2010 Cecile Tremblay Chambolle-Musigny Les Cabottes
On the nose a lovely blend of black cherries, cocoa and a complex soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and very pure, with a touch of spice, lovely elegance, silky tannins and fine length. A good bottle for early drinking.
2010 Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin
The nose is deep, pure and sappy, with raw cocoa and beautiful soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and very pure on the attack, with good depth, superb complexity and a long, tannic finish. Impresive wine.
2009 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
From vines averaging between 60 and 70 years of age. Refined nose of black cherries, dark chocolate and soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy with ripe tannins and a wonderful long complex soil-driven finish. This 2009 Gevrey VV is outstanding quality for their appellation.
2010 Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée
The nose is pure with a blend of red and black cherries and complex soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure and very transparent, with suave tannins and a very long and elegant finish. A terrific wine of finesse and complexity a Vosne AC rarely found at this quality.
2010 Georges Noellat Echezeaux
This parcel lies in the lieu à dit of Les Cruots and the vines are in excess of eighty years of age. Complex nose of red and black cherries, raw cacao and beautiful soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and sappy, with ripe tannins and a brilliant complex long finish. A beautiful example of Echézeaux.
2010 Domaine Ponsot Corton Cuvée du Bourdon
Complex nose of red and black cherries and lovely soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, very pure and sappy, with beautiful focus and a balanced long finish. This exceptional Corton has great elegance and power!
