2011 Clonakilla Riesling
89 points
Tightly defined and refined Aussie riesling with an intense inner core of fruit. Tangy acids, lime peel, honey and the barest hint of petrol, combined with power and a long resolved finish add up to a first-class riesling. This opened beautifully during the evening and matched well to a citrus cured salmon dish and a chlorophyl flavored mixed grain risotto.

(crumbly cork) Outstanding new world cabernet with notable VA that (for me) added great lift to a richly textured and multi-dimensional wine - in a very modern style. Licorice, hazelnut, plums and creamy oak feature on the nose The palate is impeccable - lovely bottle age character, smooth tannic structure, intense fruit quality with echos of the nose clearly on display. The wine got better and better in the glass - the VA did not over-take the wine and in fact by the end the complications of the wine became more pronounced. Modern wine making that has developed positively with age.
