Introduction
A busy night at Bin 75
Flight 1 - Talley & Bishop's Peak Tasting with Brian Talley (7 notes)
Very nice, well made wines from San Luis Obispo County.
White
2012 Bishop's Peak (Talley Vineyards) Chardonnay Edna Valley
Pale with amber hues; crisp green apple, melon, citrus rind, white flower; solid, well built, obviously stainless, matchstick on the tart finish; good.
White
2011 Talley Vineyards Chardonnay
Darker golden green; tart green apple, vanilla from French oak, richer, some honey, green grape, elegant; vanilla, smoke, sweet rich fruit, good tartness to it, clean finish with good acid; good.
White
2012 Talley Vineyards Chardonnay
Lighter pale greenish yellow; more pent up on the nose than the '11, seemingly lighter extraction, popcorn, vanilla, pear; warmer richer fruit, oak still needs to integrate, good density; good.

Red
2012 Bishop's Peak (Talley Vineyards) Pinot Noir San Luis Obispo County
Pale dull ruby; slight candied pinot fruit, higher toned dark red and blue fruit; acidic at first but with some air the wine mellows and becomes quite tasty.
Red
2011 Talley Vineyards Pinot Noir Arroyo Grande Valley
Ruby color; dark cherry, well integrated vanilla, sweet spice, sour note, some noticeable alcohol; medium body and intensity, blue and dark red fruit, hints at earth, tart with some tannin; good.
Red
2012 Talley Vineyards Pinot Noir Arroyo Grande Valley
Dark ruby to the rim; fresh blue and dark red fruit, an ashy quality that I liked a lot; sweet, nice density, higher alcohol; good CA Pinot Noir.
Red
2008 Talley Vineyards Pinot Noir Rosemary's Vineyard
Dense see through core with dull maroon rim; interesting nose, aged and complex, deep rich red dark cherry fruit, some earth, cooked slightly; richer wine, soft rounded tannin and acidity, density is keeping this buoyant, duller sour cherry fruit, nobility; good now but may improve slightly with even a couple more years of age.
Flight 2 - Blind Tasting <$30 (4 notes)
A very eclectic group. The Montesodi was #1 with the Chiroubles in a close second.
Red
2009 Marchesi de' Frescobaldi Chianti Rùfina Riserva Castello di Nipozzano Montesodi
Dark red with brilliant crimson hues; sweet red fruit, taut, red cherry, dried fruit, rose, a bit somber, cedar, menthol; initial blast of sweet red cherry and ripe strawberries, menthol, good nobility, firm; kind of surprised this was not Nebbiolo; had the power of Brunello; tasty but this should probably sit for a few years.
Red
2006 Frogtown Merlot Kritzer Family Reserve
Dark dull crimson; funky nose of ripe red fruit, seaweed, VA, some sulfur, rhubarb; soft texture, some tannin on finish, musty clay on the back end which indicated it was GA; very interesting wine and surprisingly drinkable.
Red
2009 Domaine Tempier Bandol
Dull garnet, decent clarity; tar, ripe, hint of sulfur, red fruit, clove, currant, lingonberry, ripe cranberry; medium minus body, tart finish, some dryness, fruit cake; not really what we were expecting from this bottle or Bandol, a little too light.
Red
2011 Daniel Bouland Chiroubles
See through bright rose with pale rim; tartness explodes out of the glass, medicinal, grapey, strawberry, cherry, some vegetal notes in background, minerality like ash; fresh, cooler temp which helped, strawberry pie, pomegranate tea, tart, long finish; tasty and good value.
Flight 3 - Randoms non-blind (3 notes)
White
2011 Champalou Vouvray
Light straw; underripe apple with wooly note underneath, very minerally; sharp acidity, hint of honey, apple cider, pollen, grain; good but needs a couple years to tone down a bit.
Red
2013 Alto Sur Cabernet Sauvignon Altosur
Semi-translucent dull ruby; vanilla, red fruit, cherry, currant, sweet, simple; sweet and sappy palate, red fruit, vanilla, short finish; good for price but this won't blow you away.
Red
2013 Alto Sur Malbec Altosur
Semi-translucent magenta; candied light purple fruit, plummy, dark cherry; sappy palate, simple fruit, more berry and tartness which I like but little resemblance to Malbec.
