Introduction

Richard Brazier of Ancient & Modern wines , presented a vertical of this great chateau.
Interesting the wines carry a classic style to the,,very dark in colour up until the 80s and especially the 00,96,90 are wines that will be among the greats of their vintages and worth buying.

A year since we have tried this before and still very much an atypical bordeaux but better than then (papies 85) . Very dark in colour. Very spicy, and we could have been fooled this is syrah at times. And this carried on on to the palate. 2003 remains a mystery and a question mark. 90 we think

This is wine full of promise and will be one of the great bottles we will have in 10 years. Unfortunately now it's too young, much like a true 2000 bordeaux it needs it time to evolve. Dark in colour, intense and classic on the nose, heavy on the tannin but even through that we felt the beauty lurking beneath. Be patient here. We will not rate this time but feels like this will be a mid 90s wine . Needs 5yrs minimum

In the last 5 years we have come across this wine 3 times and we went from a 90 in 2009 to 93 in 2012 to 95 today. Clearly this wine is evolving nicely. Quite dark in colour still, open, classic nose, light floral at times, quite a lot of dark fruits. Lively wine, still on the young side and full of promise. Classic, pure and happy to have afew bottles of this. Still young but very very good and WOTN for both us and the group.95

Dark red in colour. Nose is a bit shy and having followed the excellent 96 (papies 95) it proved a poor relation. Tannic wine, a touch green at time ( got the wrong end of the 95 vintage?) and a bit sharp, edgy. Good wine but time has not helped in our view to iron out the rough edges. 91 at best and we worry abt its longevity.

Great wine and gives a bit of an insight on how the 96 and 00 will evolve over time.
A lot darker than expected in colour. Intense and open on the nose, complex mix. Rich. On the palate the tannins are still evident but round. Lots of life in this, very complex, long and with many layers. Very very good wine and one to look out for. 94

We are yet to come across a great example of this wine. First wine in the lineup to show some discolouration. Brownish around the rim.slightly oxidised on the nose so we wonder if this is characteristic. On the palate it was quite nice to be honest, but it sort of died out too fast and lacked vitality. 89 albeit not sure if the bottle was characteristic.

Dark red in colour with ever the slightest brownish tint around the rim. Once again this wine performed very well. One of the better88s. Savoury wine, old school, pure very healthy. A few green edges but still nothing to spoil the fun here. Would be even better with food. A solid wine 92.

The wine unfortunately is dead, finished and well past its "wine" time. Sweet and at times felt like grape juice.

Well past its time and barely a wine per se. Dies away quickly so easy on the decanting here too. The nose is Okies but the palate tells a story of an old wine. 83
