Flight 1 (12 notes)
Red
2006 Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Pignan Reserve
93 points
Very pale crimson, lake rim, translucent; raspberries galore, floral, high acid, Burgundian, sour cherry, tea, exotic and sweet but the herbal notes in the background add nice savory quality; soft texture, high acid, cherry and raspberry, rose, orange oil, more medicinal with air; elegant and really delicious; very good now.
Red
2005 P. Dubreuil-Fontaine Père & Fils Corton-Clos du Roi
92 points
Dull garnet core with crimson rim, see through; nutty, sulfur, sh*t stank, mahogany, leather, meaty cherry, slight vegetal, earth and dirt; larger scaled on the palate, licorice, roses, sappy texture, lower acid for Pinot, slight tannin on the finish, viscous, supple, supple; this bottle was very good and could have been better with a slight chill and some decanting.
Red
1996 Château Mouton Rothschild
94 points
Very dark core with 1/4 in. bricking, youthful appearance; powerful, cigar, tobacco, earth, cow pie (Pauillac), leather, currant, green pepper, so deep and luxurious; an unevolved baby compared to previous bottles though still quite enjoyable.

Red
2006 Bodegas Muga Rioja Torre Muga
90 points
Black core with thin brick rim; leather, brown sugar, really ripe fruit, sunshine, Bordeaux-esque; leather on the palate, dark fruit, astringency, charcoal, dense, dark earth; called Rioja.
Red
2010 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée
93 points
Super light lake core with pale rim; reductive, liquid limestone, really bright red fruit, leaner, cranberry, softer tannin but so much mineral; should age well for mid-term aging though I'd probably be surprised how long it will last; delicious.
Red
2006 San Felice Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio Rosso
Dark core with light garnet rim; mahogany, currant, rose, dried red fruit, tobacco, prune, slight VA, acorn; dried fruit, potpourri, autumnal, mix of red and dark fruit, grainy tannin, slight cedar; called '06 Argiano BdM.
Red
2011 Bruno Colin Santenay 1er Cru Gravières
90 points
Purple maroon core with reddish purple rim, see through; vanilla, stem, rose, deep red and dark fruit, sour dark cherry, ash; rich red and dark fruit with high acid, some vegetal, some tannin; very good though aeration should help open it up a bit; 90+.
Red
2011 Domaine Denis Carré Pommard Les Noizons
91 points
See through dark maroon; sweet cherry, slight vanilla, plum, rich and delicious nose, cherry pit, taut; sour cherry on the palate, rich red and dark cherry, softer but some texture, leather, tense; very good, surprisingly soft for Pommard.
White - Sparkling
2006 Marc Hébrart Champagne Premier Cru Special Club

Fine bubbles, yellow green color; strong green apple, chalk, powerful, rich, almond; rich, vivacious on the tongue, chalk and green apple, lots of mouthfeel, high acid, long apple and lemon finish; tasty; lots in the tank for graceful cellaring; 91+.

N.V. H. Billiot Fils Champagne Grand Cru Brut Réserve
88 points
Very sharp, high acid, really needs some time to settle.
Closing
What a night! Great Burgs and great examples of Burgundian Sangiovese and Grenache. Then there's Mouton! The Champagne wasn't half bad either.
Harder to pick a bad wine tonight rather than decide on the top 3.
