Flight 1 (12 notes)

White
2010 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Meix Chavaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

Mineral, smoky, spice, orange peel. So full and flavourful on the palate, with a line of that smoke from the nose embedded throughout. Superb texture, this is already delicious but could age for some time as well.
White
2012 Moorilla Cloth Label Australia, Tasmania

Blind. Apricot, musk, lemon, passion fruit and some smoke - plenty of interest. A smidge of residual sugar, but finishes austere toward the finish. Medium length and depth - really quite interesting.
White - Off-dry
2008 Schäfer-Fröhlich Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
92 points
AP #26. Spice, lemon, mineral and pear. Fantastic palate balance, light on its feet but has great depth to it already. Young but super lovely.
White
2005 Domaine Stirn Riesling Brand France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
88 points
Earth, mushroom, floral and a touch of herb on the nose. Quite dry with good acidity and a little extract to it. Has more enjoyment than a previously tried bottle but still not thrilling, just nice.
Red
2012 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
91 points
Floral lift, lovely aromatic nose, spices, smoke, autumn leaves and a bit of a cola element as well. Quite bright on the palate thanks to the acidity and bright fruit. Good length and early enjoyability.
Red
2012 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
89 points
Opened about 2.5 hours prior and had closed up a bit since. Rhubarb, cherry, stem and blood - quite dark fruited and tight. Palate is also tight but had good balance and length. Give it time.
Red
2005 Domaine Trapet Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru
90 points
Musk, meaty, licorice and a touch of VA aromas. Powerful on the palate, still rather brooding but does have good fruit depth. Feels very characteristic of 2005. Very good tannins and potential.
Red
2005 Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Le Corton France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
92 points
Bright nose with graphite, cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Goid richness on the palate, really clean and bright as well. Really appealing, had style and also pleasure. Will develop further and nicely.

1992 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Valbuena 5° Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
91 points
Truffle, cherry, some Brett influence for sure here but in the meaty spectrum rather than metal. Classic Sweet and sour fruit profile with excellent texture and length. Feels like drinking now is the perfect time.

2000 Roberto Voerzio Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata Torriglione Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Classic tar and roses with darker elements of licorice, earthy truffle and also raspberry. Really well composed palate with brightness from the fruit and acidity giving it real lift and serious structure with the fine tannins. Excellent, WOTN for me.

White - Off-dry
2005 Emrich-Schönleber Monzinger Halenberg Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel *** Germany, Nahe
92 points
Apricot, quince, spice, yellow florals and lemon. Bright palate with powerful fruit but the sweetness providing support rather than stealing the focus. Powerful and precise.
White - Off-dry
2005 Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese Lange Goldkapsel #10 Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
93 points
Passionfruit, apple, pear, violet and spice. Gorgeous acidity drives the palate with great flow and balanced to it. Excellent drinking with some complexity behind it already.
