3/14/24, 3:47 PM - Here's what AI interprets my vagueness to be: First try of this, and wow! Already a huge fan. The empty bottle mocks me, but the memory lingers.
11/21/23, 2:39 PM - It was just hiding in a box - didn't save it for any reason. We had it with sushi for lunch and it was a great pairing. Cheers Buzz.
9/10/23, 7:30 PM - I think many 1991 red burgundy’s have a version of this issue. My guess is it’s primarily because the vintage wasn’t as highly regarded initially (for maybe a decade?). And as a result less were stored and more were drunk early. Not sure if production levels were lower. I remember 15 years ago people sometimes had a hard time assembling full 91 DRC horizontals.
5/29/23, 5:19 AM - There's no hurry if that's your question. It should last a very long time. If the question is when is optimal, then I'm not sure. For my tastes I'd hold and see if it develops further. My philosophy generally is to drink something when it's in the zone for your tastes and wait when it's not. But realize that others with good palates liked it a lot more than I did.
5/8/23, 9:10 AM - What ever you like with champagne. For me, that's virtually anything. Sushi works well.
4/7/23, 12:02 PM - Yep!
2/1/23, 3:18 PM - Drinking this as I type, and indeed a nice wine. Lepetitchateau, may I ask who you are? Love your notes and we seem to drink a lot of wines in common.
2/5/23, 6:29 PM - Live in Minneapolis and Beaver Creek. Drink wine in NYC reasonably often, but less lately. Shoot an email and we’ll share a bottle or two sometime. brad.f.england@gmail.com
2/2/22, 12:42 PM - Lord, if I recall it was decanted for an hour or two, but not positive as it's been a while.
2/18/21, 7:59 PM - On our recent bottle I think I pulled the cork a few hours early and decanted an hour or so.
1/20/21, 4:43 AM - Will look for your note. To a certain extent, I'm not sure if it was me or the bottle. I'm starting to believe in root days.
11/9/20, 4:41 PM - Yes, I've had the 06 quite a few times, and a good question. I love the 06, and tried to think about the comparison to myself. Honestly, I'm not sure, as both are excellent, but if I had to peg one it's the 06. But that could be because I've had it so many times and it has made a strong cumulative impression.
11/9/20, 5:17 PM - Yes. If budget is a consideration I would say go with the 2006.
11/9/20, 5:15 PM - Cristal (like most good champagne) will age for a very long time if bought on release and stored properly. The 2008 Rose will last 40-50 years easily.
10/20/20, 11:00 AM - It is a note on the Royal Tokaji. The "Ponsot" reference is the title of the "Tasting Event" thread that the note is a part of. It was a Ponsot dinner with the Royal Tokaji served at the end. Cheers.
7/27/20, 6:41 AM - I honestly think either is good, but I think this has a long life. I drink a fair amount of white burgundy young, even when I think they will age. My best guess is this will easily age well, and it's under Diam so I'm not concerned about premox. So if you have one hold it. If you have two, drink one and hold the other.
6/3/20, 6:55 PM - Unlikely. From a case I bought in the 90's from Farr Vintners when I lived in London. A couple have been bad over the years but the other six or seven I've drunk have been good.
5/3/20, 1:02 PM - Another reason to buy Lafon as well. Aside from the fact that it's fantastic!
4/5/20, 11:54 AM - Pods. I think the 14's will drink well from early days on, but likely will last for quite a while in the cellar as well. Personally I'd drink them in the near to medium term, rather than think of them in the 10-20 year category. But well stored, they might be fantastic then as well.
3/5/20, 5:22 AM - Al, curious if the 86 was a typo? Sounds like you loved the wine. I've really liked the 2010 all the times I've had it.
12/8/19, 2:36 PM - It’s why I typically don’t use numbers. Essentially I was trying to say I’m not sure this will be an ethereal Musigny.
12/11/18, 8:26 AM - Hey, I love that Chagall.
6/5/18, 4:30 PM - I have two more. Remind me when we’re planning.
5/20/18, 5:19 PM - Odd but true. The 76 can be awesome, but corked champagne is always somehow discombobulating. Hope your bottles are great!
12/30/17, 3:33 PM - My friend brought it to dinner, and if I recall correctly he decanted for a half hour, then put back in bottle. We probably drank it 2-3 hours later. So it got a decent amount of air. If I was opening one at home I'd give it two hours in the decanter.
8/9/17, 6:16 PM - Yes. Lots. I had an 04 bias, but the 06 persisted!
7/8/17, 9:50 PM - Not sure. No obvious flaws, and it was fine. But with Lafon, Perrieres, and 2011 I anticipated more joy.
6/28/16, 5:35 PM - I'd say drink that mag! It's really good, and there's no time like the present.
4/18/16, 12:22 PM - It stayed together, the bottle was in great shape. My comment was more in the "Grange doesn't do it for me anymore" camp.
4/7/16, 12:28 AM - Yes. Restaurant in Montalcino.
3/19/16, 10:12 AM - William. Not sure, but there was a touch of something funky going on there. Couldn't really put my finger on it. Funny, as we were drinking it with the 2013 Roulot Boucheres. My buddy and I loved the Roulot, and our spouses preferred the Ramonet. So I didn't really give the Ramonet too much attention. We just let our wives drink that bottle and we drank the Roulot. Win, win.
12/28/15, 8:37 AM - BuzzzzOff. I think holding off a year is a good idea. But if you don't have patience, or can get more, give it a try.
4/12/15, 11:43 AM - Stefan, its just not my style. Ripe, overdone. If you like big CDP, you'll like this. Its not an age thing, so go ahead and open it. You'll either like it or not, but its not "too early". Like I said, some really liked it. Just not me.
2/6/15, 8:06 AM - Haven't had it for a couple of years. I always liked the 00 for current drinking. My kids (ages 25-30) have polished them off with no complaints. Get it if you're planning to drink them over the next few years, not for LT. For LT others would be better.
10/20/13, 4:52 AM - Likely very true. But it was at a restaurant, someone in the group picked it out, and to a certain extent most of us can get a read on a wine even if young.
9/17/13, 7:34 PM - I don't remember on the disgorgement.
6/21/13, 11:59 AM - I'm not a points guy, so no rating. And I'm not Brad Baker the Champagne Warrior, in case you're confusing me with him.
6/21/13, 3:14 PM - Should be good. I really liked it.
2/18/13, 3:33 PM - Don't know on decant - it wasn't mine and was open when I got there.
