Pale rosé colour, fine bubbles. Restrained nose, there's some red currant and cranberry, but this is mostly marked by wet pebble and flintstone notes. Vivid in the mouth, lively bubbles, relatively high acidity, chalky finish. Excellent.

Greenish yellow. Very fragrant nose, almost Sauvignon Blanc like with a mix of green fruit (kiwi, reineclaude, lime) and tropical notes (mango, papaya), light floral notes as well. Fluid and delicious in the mouth, seems quite ripe, not that acidic, but well balanced. Very good.

Surprisingly light yellow for the age. Fresh and young smelling nose. Some pear, quince, nuts, not much oak influence. Good balance in the mouth, mediums acidity, quite impressive volume for a Bourgogne Blanc from 2013. Fine finish. No hurry to drink this

80% Pinot Meunier, 15% Pinot Noir, 5% Chardonnay. Base year 2015 with wines from a reserve perpetuelle. Medium yellow colour, vivid bubbles. Slightly oxidative nose, a bit rustic. Very ripe apple notes. In the mouth, it’s also a bit rustic, not so fine bubbles, decent acidity, everything is not perfectly well integrated. Ok to drink, but not exciting.

7.5% Vol. Medium yellow to light orange colour. In the nose, this is just great. Apples, white blossoms, some herbs, mild reduction, slate notes. In the mouth, it’s light, dancing, fine acidity, very mild sweetness, it does not taste very sweet, the sweetness is balanced by the acidity. Joyful to drink.

Medium yellow, light bubbles. In the nose, very yeasty and creamy, some hazelnuts, freshly cut champignons, lemon. Very expressive, not super refined though. In the mouth, this has relatively mild bubbles, medium acidity, muscular, broad, very nice lemon peel bitter notes in the long finish.

Medium yellow to light golden colour. In the nose, this screams Vouvray moelleux with its notes of candied ginger, wet wool, yellow flowers, salted preserved lemon and pate de coing. Super expressive and elegant and unique. In the mouth, in the attack there’s minerality, almost painful, strong salty notes, a bit like licking North Sea beach pebbles, it’s full of electricity, tight, there’s strong acidity and then it mellows down into a very mildly sweet finish with tropical fruit notes. An abstract „sweet“ wine that does not feel as such, rather a really great Vouvray.

65% Mauzac, 35% Loin de l’Oeil. Medium yellow colour. In the nose, this is highly perfumed with apple blossoms, dried apple and pear chips, white flowers, fennel seeds and dill blossom. Super unique and interesting. In the mouth, this has quite a lot of muscle and substance despite only 12% Vol. alcohol, it’s bone dry, slightly tart and quite acidic for the vintage. The dried apple notes are dominating the finish. Lovely, interesting wine, a revelation in this price class.

Second bottle out of six and this wine is now firing out of all cylinders. A near perfect village Chablis. Light greenish yellow. In the nose, there‘s green apple, lemon juice, something slightly creamy, green hazelnuts, white flowers and even some red berries (raspberries, red currant). Super open, direct and vivid. In the mouth, it‘s fresh, nicely acidic, again very slightly creamy, super juicy and quite long.

Golden Color. Very undefined and weird on night one. A bit better, but still hard work on night two. Completely oxidised after two more nights in the fridge. I‘ve had decent bottles of this before, but this one was really really bad.

Slightly pale light golden yellow. The nose is drop dead gorgeous. Spontaneous fermentation scents, slightly sweaty, dark slate, exotic fruit, herbs and spices, super expansive, elegant, concise. In the mouth, it‘s lush, but not too sweet, nice acidity, classic Spätlese style, deep minerality, superb length. This is heavenly and has everything you would expect from a middle Mosel Spätlese from a great vintage.

Burgundy red. In the nose, this is a bit muted, seems closed down. Quite stony, oriental spices, red fruit, tight and rather linear. In the mouth, this is also quite tight, noticeable tannin and acidity, but good balance, tobacco and spices. Round finish. This is closed down at the moment.

Second bottle out of six. Dense, youthful, dark red. In the nose, there’s a prominent note of lemon peel in addition to fresh tobacco notes, blackberry and blueberry as well as pencil shavings. Very primary. In the mouth, it was a bit sweet on day one, but has become more serious on day two. Quite cool, largely mellowed tannins, medium acidity, fruity finish, quite long. I really like this, it‘s very 2009 and is a joy to drink. Fullish, but not over the top.

Cloudy light red. In the nose, this is great, rose petals, some black pepper, strawberry and raspberry, quite a lot of earth, spices. In the mouth, it's light, but has a lot of depth, fresh acidity, good length. It shows the structure in the finish.

Light yellow. Nice, but not very expressive nose with floral notes, a bit of pear and apple, not much tension. A bit watery in the mouth, quite strong acidity, rather short finish. A good drink, but this does not have the depth of other vintages of this wine.

Slightly rusty and pale yellow, fine bubbles. In the nose, this shows the Pinot, there's some red berry character, some earth, some bread crust, quite elegant. In the mouth, it's less elegant, the acidity is sticking out, but the bubbles are fine. Slightly edgy mouthfeel. Not super harmonic at the moment, may need more time, it may also never become really really good.

Very light yellow color. The nose is lovely, there's some litchi, some spices and herbs, hints of apple. Not super complex, but very appealing. In the mouth, it's light, more Spätlese than Auslese style, super clean, medium acidity. Very good.

Very light yellow color. The nose shows prominent sponti notes, below it this is classic Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr: spring herbs, white flowers, some apricot and white peach, crystal clear, very precise. In the mouth, it's fairly light, not very sweet, fresh, but elegant acidity, good length, some CO2. Needs a lot more bottle age to gain complexity, but this is already excellent.

Amber color. Decent nose with brown sugar, apricots in sirup, warm earth. In the mouth, it's still intact, but fairly simple, rather sweet with very little acidity. This was a good bottle, but the wine really is quite simple.

Medium yellow. In the nose it‘s super floral, lots of Jasmine and other white blossoms, apricot skin, hints of light honey. In the mouth it tastes more medium dry than bone dry, easy to drink, fresh, not super complex, but really concise. Loved it

Light orange colour. In the nose, it shows notes of honey, baked peach, earth and spices. Quite clean, not much Botrytis showing. Elegant. In the mouth it‘s medium dense, quite easy to drink, not very acidic, but also not too sweet, peachy, medium complex.

Dark ruby red. In the nose it‘s fresh and well balanced, red fruit, stony, tight. In the mouth it‘s light, fresh acidity, no perceivable Tannin, minerality showing in the finish. Lovely low key wine

Shiny dark amber color. In the nose, this is very very spicy, cinnamon, cloves, fenugreek and fennel, some caramel as well, not much fruit, hints of overripe papaya maybe. Super intense, not very clean, a lot of botrytis, quite individual. In the mouth, it's quite fluid, not too sticky, also not super sweet, the sweetness is eaten up by its intense spiciness that is as noticeable as in the nose, not much acidity, also not very fresh, but quite exciting as a whole. Great length with citrus peel notes being the most prominent aroma.

Light golden yellow. In the nose, this is super fresh with notes of just ripe quince, greenish fruit, grass, wet stone, slightly waxy, reminds me of Chablis a little bit. In the mouth, it's equally fresh with quite prominent, but well integrated acidity, again slightly green notes (not unripe, just green fruit), acidity driven finish. Excellent.

Still going strong. Pale and cloudy amber color. Looks oxidized. In the nose, this is murky at first, but with air it really blossoms. Typical Joly nose of slight oxidation, some botrytis, slate, but with a really fresh background composed of white flowers and lemongrass. Beautiful. In the mouth, this is quite spectacular, tight, forceful, but graceful, the 15% Vol. ABV are really well hidden, deep and complex minerality, nice acidity, long and nuanced finish. This is really excellent.

Light amber color. In the nose, this was quite clean and very fragrant with nuanced notes of exotic fruit, honey and white flowers, a bit too clean maybe, but very expressive. In the mouth, it was also quite clean, very well balanced, everything in the right place, not too sweet, not too acidic, very harmonious, but maybe a bit too clean and calculated.

Its color was rather light golden yellow than amber. In the nose, it was very spicy with an overload of saffron and also some citrus fruit like grapefruit and tangerine, not a lot of botrytis, only a tiny bit of creamy honey. In the mouth, it was wonderful, super fresh, but super complex at the same time, fresh acidity, lush, but subtle sweetness (more the fruity kind of sweetness than the honey kind of sweetness) and a spicy and creamy finish. Awesome.

A super typical Karthäuserhofberg with lemongrass, lime and gooseberry as well as white currant flavors, super clean and pure, almost silvery in the nose and on the palate, not sweet at all, rather half-dry, light on its feet, but intensive.

In a great place and even improved as compared to my last bottle a few years ago. It was just very slightly oxidative, super fine, elegant, almost more fruity than nutty and spicy, but with a great underlying thread of yellow spices and the typical vegetal Savagnin aromas of Aloe Vera and white squash. Spectacular.

The 1988 was lovely, very old-school left-bank Bordeaux with a noble structure, aromas of plums and cassis and pencil shavings, quite a bit of tannin and fresh acidity. Really light and floral, almost like a good Margaux.

The 1985 was fantastic, quite wild, a bit animalistic, spicy and peppery with reddish fruit, lots of earth and the spice you also have in aged Rioja and Ribeira del Duero. Its texture was super fine and silky, but it had a great backbone of residual tannin and acidity. Explosive and long finish.

Seemed quite young. The main aromas were difficult to identify, a bit greenish herbal with hay, greenish fruit (reineclaude), but missing the mushroomy and nutty aromas I was hoping for. Not very complex and after all a bit simple.

Medium yellow color with fine perlage. The nose was very intense with baked apple, some nuts, lemon flavors, greenish floral notes, super complex. In the mouth, the perlage was not as vivid as we would have expected, but I like a rather soft perlage. The wine was equally intense in the mouth, super concentrated with vibrant acidity and lots of lemon and chalk in the very finely woven finish. Almost overwhelming intensity.

Fairly youthful color. In the nose, this is restrained, but fragrant at the same time. It's a really typical Morey St. Denis with a fruit somewhere between black cherry and strawberry, hibiscus, elegant, but not as airy as a Chambolle and not as earthy as a Gevrey. In the mouth, this is really well balanced, invisible tannin, but great structure in the background, light, minimally stemmy, very floral, super lovely and long finish.

Light to medium yellow. In the nose, it shows greenish fruit, slightly waxy (sort of lime peel), macademia nut, hints of soap, very clear and pure, crisp, but clearly made out of fully ripe fruit. In the mouth, it's crisp as well, chalky, the acidity is prominent, but round like in most 2009 Chablis, lemony flavors in the finish.

This is a bit difficult upon opening, but really good after one night open. Light yellow. In the nose, there's a lot of funk (there was too much funk upon opening), it's quite sulphuric, a bit of oak as well. Underneath all of that, it's super clean, bright and pure, lemony fruit, some peach as well. In the mouth, it's super, bright again, direct, straightforward, slightly spicy, a bit nervous, quite chalky, nice and fresh acidity, long finish. Exactly my kind of Puligny-Montrachet.

Its color is youthful and shows no signs of age. In the nose, this is very slatey, reminds me of Faugères, it displays dark fruit (blackberry), some game and it's really concise and pure in a dense and not very airy way. In the mouth, it's a lot lighter than the nose would suggest with structure and minerality in the foreground, again a very pure blackberry fruit (almost like eating just ripe blackberries), fairly low acidity, suave tannins and a long, fruity finish. A top notch wine that is easy to drink, but sufficiently complex at the same time so that it does not appear bland or showy.

Dark red with rusty edges. In the nose, this is beautiful, only slight notes of age, quite fresh still, iron and rust, quite earthy, very floral, not much fruit, wild and elegant at the same time. In the mouth, this is quite structured, but not hard, rather mild acidity, suave tannins, a tiny bit of bite in the finish. A little bit like 1995 Bordeaux in structure, but different in the aromatics.

Golden yellow. The nose was quite oily and not 100% clean with a sort of raisiney fruit, honey, some botrytis? In the mouth it was better, sweeter than I expected, but well balanced by the acidity. It definitely needed food, on its own it was too honeyed and sweet.

Still young, a tiny bit oaky at first, but that blew off with air. The nose had a bit of matchstick, white peach and lemon zest, white flowers as well. Very elegant. In the mouth it was equally elegant and fine with very fresh acidity and lots of nuances, quite subtle. Spectacular.
