Red
Saturated black olive, meat, blood, blackberry, violet, lavender, dark chocolate, dark cherry, and barnyard but not bret Good acid , Good tannin.very little new wood. Long finish , complexity for days, I wish I had a case. Its just started to show, in my opinion.

Definitely has entered that wonderful maturing white burg phase. Deep gold, rich with great acid and balance, hawthorn, bay laurel, dry apricot and preserved lemon, creme fraiche and most important, that gorgeous salted caramel note. The wood is integrated and provides texture above flavor. Major elegance. This was much better the 2nd night, so I would recommend a decant, not for tightness or reduction, just for the improvement with air.
A lovely example
Red - Fortified
Showing beautifully , and was of course perfection with Stilton and walnuts.
Red
Probably past peak. Decent wine but seems simple and oaky now.
Red
Really like this CDP. I think there's a touch of brett(the good complexifying kind) , it's loaded with garrigue, spice(not from oak here) , pepper , tea, fig, and animal(dead, and dried) notes on top of the usual cooked red fruit and licorice candy. Loads going on A good example, impressive for this price point.
Red
Classic style. Very nice , better with several more years.
Red
Fabulous wine in a fabulous place. This is concentrated generous fruit, complex earth, leather , truffle , herbal notes , great finish.
Red
Talk about a steal. Very complex and a lengthy finish. Cru Beauj rules!
White - Sparkling
I wish I'd waited longer with the others. They were superb a few years ago. This has reached a whole different level of complex nectar. Exceptional.
Red
Previous 2 notes nail it . Its delicious Rotie at the low end. i would say the finish I'm getting is nicely lengthy. Doesn't disappoint.
Red
This is drinking lovely right now. Luscious black fruit(slighty sweet), cedar, tobacco. Tannin is mellowed. Yum.
Red
Moderate complexity , moderate finish, and like any Gigondas , generous , lush but balanced, and simply delicious . Who can't love them? Also watch out for gigantic sediment chunks!(I'm hoping this was an errant swollen stem, it resembled many other things )

White
First bottle mildly disappointing for premier cru Puli, but low end price tag must be considered.
White
Very impressive , mineral, and petrol notes. Expensive but worth it.
Red
This bottle is just too hot for me. Not balanced.

2008 Eagles Trace Latitude 38 Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Give it 30 minutes and you've got a delicious new world Bordeaux blend. It's oaky, but doesn't kill you and while it's 14.5 it doesn't seem hot . It's very well made and has good balance with the rich fruit.

This is really good and very interesting. it's reminiscent of good southern burgundy, in the judicious oak and chardonnay character, and body /mouthfeel, but it's got some floral/aromatic lift from the viognier/rousanne . It even has some wet stone minerality. I would've liked a little more acid from the chenin , but it's not flabby. Also everything is understated, and elegant. Nice.
Red
At first this tasted like Vacqueryas or quality CDR villages. With a little air, the licorice/earth notes on the back end , came forward like CDP. It's really a good wine at a great price point. (Didn't care for the VdV Condrieu)
White
Wow ,super oxidative, very petrol .It's gold colored and concentrated. Big alchohol , opulent.I like it .

Opened way too cold, below 40f. At first I was disappointed, but once it got to 50 degrees the door opened to another world. This wine is complex, with a long finish, extraordinary.

I like this . It really needs to be above 50 degrees of chill. Below that ,it has a little sharp note , that melts with temperature. The difference is immense!

White Montsant...good stuff

Hermitage pleasure without breaking the bank. Red and dark fruit , meat /blood , leafy and mineral earth, with nice acidity, and lovely balance . It tastes younger than it is, and will clearly be stellar in maturity. The "Gambert" cuvee is this with a little more smoky oak influence, quite nice as well.

So good. It's a blend of tart cherry/ raspberry, mushroom, wet leaf, forest floor and a hint of spice and anise. Delicious and complex, fairly long finish. If pressed , the fruit to earth ratio is even. it's very nice and an unbelievable Burgundy value.

This tastes similar to Northern syrah. My local store owner said it would remind of St. Joseph, I think as the air hits it, it's right there between SJ, and Crozes. That black fruit , with some acidity, and lean,

lots of.layers of fruit , earth, and spice. Lovely. I'm drinking it on it's own, but this would shine with food. Also as previously noted , it's too young.

Very nice. lots of earth, floral, and mineral, over delightful dried /sweet cherry fruit. Assertive but pleasant tannin, that drinks well now,and will last for years. Typical medium plus Nebbiolo acid.

Showing the rim variation, marking age. Loads of wet leaves and dirt on nose, mossy ,a little more pronounced and complex than usual "forest floor". It's also slightly cloudy and lots of particulates. clearly sound , though. Palate is much confirmed, earth way over fruit , and tannins not unpleasant, but still a little grippy. This can go for many more years. This totally seems like a cote de nuits wine.I love it.

A delicious ,easy drinking CDL, at a great price. That acid/sugar balance makes it perfect with cheese board , or it's just lovely on its own. This is also a great illuminator, for the "I don't care for sweet wine " crowds.

This is really good, and super interesting. Apparently,
a Northern Rhone outlier, that hasn't been able to get AOC, yet. Need I say more?

Super enjoyable wine, like a bridge between new world and Bordeaux. It has the earth, oak, cedar, light graphite, but very lush pronounced black fruit, and soft tannin. The most amazing thing, they actually put on the back label , save for 3-4 years! Unbelievable, a Margaux producer , actually telling you, we produced this for new world taste, don't age for long. It's delightful now , at 6 years though.

Gorgeous. Lovely now, hard to imagine improvement, as tannin is velvet, but I'll try to hang on to some.

Very nice, earth , blackberry to the max ( it is Syrah), and tar, black olive, dark plum , light eucalyptus. Leather is there, and I get the meat notes associated with North Rhone, but can't help thinking those are suggestive, Still, Really good wine. I paid more than $50, and am pleased, it's just delicious. Love those Northern Rhones.

Got a case of this 2 years ago. It was interesting, had a skanky element to it , that I've always associated with young Carignan. (could be wrong, just seemed the common denominator/ ergo scapegoat) That has almost disappeared . It really has evolved. Earth and healthy dose of Cedar. A super cool , interesting wine , and super value.

Love the spot on call of , iron-tinged cranberry, in the previous note. I think the finish is herbal , but I wouldn't say bitter. The finish is the best part of this wine. It's a real bargain price , too.

Very nice. Previous note is spot on. The palate to me is primary cola, followed by cherry, and mild raspberry/cranberry. Tannin is mild, finish is good.

Out of six bottles , 4 were over-oxidized, brass colored, bruised nasty , apple taste. 1 was light gold,1 dark gold, both drinkable , but pretty crap. Certainly not the majestic, lovely , Puligny, we love and expect. Ya get what ya pay for, seems applicable ,here.

Wow. most extraordinary for Languedoc-Roussillon . I have had one better before, but that was a tiny production. pic st loup, I got in France. The nose is nice, and fairly typical (lots of tar) , but the palate is amazing. Nice complexity (see notes for flavors, though I get lots of black cherry) , finesse in the balance, softened tannin, and surprise, medium body and alchohol. Nice lingering finish. So glad I waited 2 years to try this . So bizarre, the import label says burgundy wine(wtf?)

Stunningly good, right now . All the Beaune red fruit and earth flavors, great acidity, medium minus body, combining with super silky tannin, making this very smooth and rich. It's got extra depth , as well. A delicious , surprise. I drank the other bottles ,too early.
White
I purchased this twice , from WTSO. I really enjoyed the first 2 bottles, that's why I bought more. The last 4 bottles I've opened ,have been flawed, probably pre-moxed or madeiriized . Brassy , dark copper ,color, and super oxidated. Anyone else encounter issues? Please drop a comment on this note , thanks.

Really educational experience. Quite old for a village level burg. Was impressive , on opening, bright acidity, great blending of fruit, earth, mushroom, softened tannin. Both aged, and lively. After 2 hours, it was nice, but totally faded. A ghost of its former self. Never experienced that before.

Gorgeous pure burgundy fruit profile of vibrant cherry, strawberry, and cranberry. Secondary forest floor and light mushroom. 10 years old, and still amazingly fresh and youthful. never tasted this vineyard before , hope to try again.

Seamless , balanced, most delicious . A beautiful cote de beaune. This drinks lovely right now.

Drinking better right now . So glad I cellared it. Dark fruit, earth, tobacco , forest floor, full bodied. The tannic edge has mellowed nicely, to blend with the rich, almost sweet, fruit. A slight harsh note, I attribute to carignan, disappeared the 2nd day. Interesting wine, with a great label.
