3/29/24, 8:24 PM - I opened for my 75th birthday-the 10 of us really enjoyed it. 2 more bottles to go. Did yours have a test tube of it tied to the bottle like mine did?
3/29/24, 7:46 PM - I posted a 1992 tasting note for the 1986 La Jota tonight. Know Bill Smith well, attended his Howell Mountain picnics years ago. He now makes Pinot Noir. tasted with him 3 years ago.
3/24/24, 10:29 AM - Wonderful Champagne for sure.
3/24/24, 10:27 AM - 1975 was the year Rangy Dunn, a new employee of Caymus out of California-Davis enology, suggested Charlie Wagner make a "Reserve" wine.I still have one bottle of the 1975 Estate left. You were lucky to taste both the 1975 Estate and Special Selection-glad you enjoyed them.
3/18/24, 10:39 PM - Liquor Barn sold wine at their Friday Tasting with a 10% discount during the tasting. I bought a magnum of 1986 Yquem for $250 less 10%.
3/19/24, 7:02 PM - Burgundy was always more expensive than other regions.
3/17/24, 6:51 PM - OLDWINES-thank you for the 4 tasting notes on 1970 Chateau Lascombes. They were terrific to read.
3/17/24, 5:15 AM - 9/23/1991 - I LIKE THIS WINE: 80 points (Edit)Nice, concentrated, wood and cherries on the nose, submerged underneath the tannins, very intense tannins.I apologize as my arthritis and my hunt and peck typing produced an incorrect Tasting Note. Thank you GAET for letting me know so i can correct both the Tasting note and the score. The score is now corrected from 80 to 90.
3/17/24, 7:15 AM - davidandrose1989 Dunn was very Bordeaux like-subtle for Randy Dunn! To me the best are 1989 Chateau La Dominique and 1989 Domaine De Chevalier both I cellar and have visited in Bordeaux. Also, 1989 Mondavi Reserve and 1989 Viader, and 1989 Anderson's Conn Valley and 1989 Silver Oak.I have 310 Tasting Notes posted for 1989 vintage-take a look if you wish.
3/14/24, 11:21 AM - The 1990 was opened 3 years ago at a dinner for members to enjoy. It was showing very well-worth 90 points
3/6/24, 5:15 PM - over the last 8 years, my wife and I have found all my Tasting Notes and I slowly one finger at a time post on Cellartracker. Glad you read my note. Enjoy your wine.
3/6/24, 8:08 PM - Thank you for the kind words. FORMAN TN just posted.
3/6/24, 5:07 AM - Your a lucky man, congratulations on your cellar and your posted tasting notes.
3/6/24, 5:09 AM - 1844 Château Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend more Options10/26/1994 - I LIKE THIS WINE: 94 points (Edit)This was an auction bottle purchased after reading about the wine in Michael Broadbent's Book and talking to him while tasting at Chateau Petrus in Pomerol. It was also mentioned in The Finigan Wineletter. This wine was a birthday gift to myself. The wine was tasted with 4 friends. The wine is believed to be bottled between 1844 to 1848. No decanting, poured into 5 glasses and immediately served. Everyone said it was good in the glass for about 45 minutes.Nose of old style Bordeaux, tea, and dusty, dried floral arrangement, on the palate, clean tasting, soft, smooth, supple, delicious, almost elegant, old candied fruit, terrific for a 150 year old wine, similar comment from those at the table, and a short but pleasant finish. A terrific auction wine that made it a terrific birthday. 3 photos uploaded, 2 front of the bottle and 1 back of the bottle, for you to see. an older TN of mine you might enjoy
3/6/24, 5:12 AM - May you age with wisdom and grace and enjoy great wine for many years.
2/16/24, 11:01 PM - This is a fabulous Champagne. Well chilled allows it to slowly warm up in the glass to your preferred drinking temperature. Especially since this shows best when you see its development in your flute. Enjoy!!!!
3/3/24, 9:27 PM - Thanks for the update-glad you enjoyed the P2.
3/3/24, 10:10 AM - Saturday Tasting means it was probably opened 5 hours earlier in the day. Refrigeration storage rare in those days. It is 5 years old.
2/18/24, 8:17 AM - I poured the Dunn into a glass and smell, if OK, I wait for 30 minutes before I enjoy. No funk.Meaty pizza sore for the typo.
2/11/24, 8:53 PM - Listed at Hi Time Cellars at that price in 1993.
2/13/24, 9:42 PM - You did well.
2/14/24, 11:32 AM - I tasted the 1989, 1990, 1991 at Chateau Mouton while touring their private Wine Museum there. Great Memories and Great Wine.
2/10/24, 8:33 AM - Agree it is terrific Chardonnay. Rather drink slightly young than old. Thaks for reading my TN.
2/7/24, 7:46 AM - I remember this tasting well. 11 Wine Tasters commented on the poor quality and most of us thought storage was the issue. We believed the store temperature of 70 degrees sapped the energy of these Champagnes. In summer the store temperature is above 70 degrees sometimes. Several of the Champagne labels were faded and the store selected their oldest bottles to open and taste.I stopped tasting and buying wine there.

11/24/23, 4:11 AM - Faust is best tasted aafter cellaring it 5-7 year old mark to avoid ABV challenges.
11/1/23, 2:58 PM - Thank you for the thank you.
10/29/23, 10:07 PM - Prefer a Montecristo #2 with it.
10/30/23, 9:12 AM - Picked up a new 375ml bottle for $20 on Saturday.
6/29/23, 8:34 PM - Enjoy-it is a wonderful wine. We celebrated 50 years this year.Congratulations to you both.
6/10/23, 3:51 AM - All wine made today is influenced by wild yeast in both Napa and Sonoma in the air, you need enough wild yeast to complete fermentation, one such wine is Miner Family Wild Yeast Chardonnay made since 1999. Give it a try, to me its 60% Napa and 40% white burgundy tasting.
1/24/23, 11:37 AM - I have searched for both the 1972 Caymus and 1973 Caymus for over 43 years, Caymus recently asked me if I have any as the winery has been out since 1977. 1972 production was about 230 cases which is very small amount. My oldest vintage is Caymus Estate 1975. Caymus was a small winery in those days and Randy Dunn did not show up until 1975 vintage. The winery became famous with the suggestion from Randy they bottle a reserve wine called Special Selection which started in 1975.
12/24/22, 9:40 AM - Thank you for the comments on wine in general and also reading my Tasting Note. IMO, most wines improve with some age, how much is the question. This can be answered by drinking wine from the same vintage, drinking part of the wine in question over time, reading Cellartracker Tasting Notes, or conversation with other wine group friends. 95% of the people drink wine before it has reached six months of age in their cellar. Many say they like tasting tannins. if you have a cellar with temperature control, an inexpensive white or red will easily hold for 7 years, an expensive white or red will hold 20 years or more. I have tasted twenty bottles over 100 years of age, 5 bottles were over 125, and not one was bad, but each went downhill quickly in the first hour after pouring into my glass. Happy Holidays.
12/25/22, 10:44 AM - Suggest you do not decant as many times the nose lasts only 30 to 60 minutes.
12/25/22, 9:24 PM - Enjoy your 1961 Bordeaux.
12/24/22, 2:49 PM - No rating for this wonderful Pinot Noir.Aubert Ritchie is a personal favorite of mine. Thanks for reading my TN and becoming a fan.Happy Holidays.
12/6/22, 8:35 AM - Try Ramey Annum Cabernet Sauvignon to see Ramey do his best. Both his Chardonnays are great for the money.Sorry about the Corton Grancey as I only enjoy when 12 years or older.
12/15/22, 9:29 PM - Try Miner Wild Yest Chardonnay, Aubert Chardonnay Ritchie Creek, or Selby Chardonnay.
12/5/22, 8:54 PM - Your welcome, this is a terrific Yquem, often overlooked by collectors, enjoy and Happy Holidays.

11/22/22, 9:52 PM - Do you have a bottle left?
11/13/22, 2:56 PM - It is easy to be poetic drinking Petreus.
10/30/22, 9:28 AM - I have enjoyed 1974 Heitz Marthas many times, will have to post my old TN on it-great wine, have posted 1974 Heitz Angelica.
9/23/22, 9:16 AM - agreed-lovely Rose-thank you for the note and tip and note my TN if you wish.

6/7/22, 2:05 PM - Congratulations on your Backus collection. Enjoy!!!!
7/30/22, 5:23 AM - I was pleasantly surprised by the Backus as I have always liked Insignia more. I was told that Backus changed for the better around 2002 and this bottle provided evidence of a positive change.
6/19/22, 8:12 AM - Agree-have enjoyed several vintages of this wine in recent years.
6/14/22, 3:40 PM - Great Tasting Note
3/28/22, 2:14 AM - Claude Dugat is a great producer, consistent quality, and unfortunately-not inexpensive. Thanks for viewing my TN.
3/28/22, 2:32 AM - Domaine Claude DugatEstablished in 1955, the 6-hectare Domaine Claude Dugat is run by Claude Dugat and wife Marie-Therese and their three children, son Bertrand and two daughters Laetitia and Jeanne. Claude Dugat abides by sustainable viticulture principles and refrains from using any herbicides and fertilizers. Vineyard and harvest decisions are all based on intuitive judgment and experience. Ripeness is a test of taste rather than laboratory analysis. Claude Dugat’s yield is on par with that of his neighbours, but it is optimal control of vigour where he manages to harvest berries half the size of his neighbours – an essential component contributing to Claude Dugat’s concentrated, dense yet aristocratic style. When it comes to winemaking, Claude Dugat believes in 100% destemming. Fermentation happens in concrete tanks and gentle during when once to twice-a-day punchdowns are performed. Wines are then racked into barrels for malolactic fermentation and at least 12 months oak ageing. Age of oak for his Bourgogne bottlings are entirely old (1 year old), whilst his village bottlings use 60% new oak, 40% 1-year-old oak. All cru level bottlings are aged in 100% new oak. Wines are then bottled without fining or filtration.Claude Dugat production, totalling annual production of average 2000 casesBourgogne Rouge (Vines planted in the village of Gevrey Chambertin)Gevrey ChambertinGevrey Chambertin 1er Cru (Blend of Craipillot and La Perriere)Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St JacquesCharmes Chambertin Grand CruGriotte Chambertin Grand Cru If you crave a taste of Claude Dugat offered at a lower price point, look for Claude Dugat La Gibryotte, a micro negociant founded by his younger children. They offer a Bourgogne Rouge, Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru and Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru.
