4/5/19, 11:55 AM - This was a day two or three wine for me hen opened this week
4/5/19, 11:53 AM - See note and comments under DAVE747400 about aeration and decanting
10/22/18, 8:12 AM - The other method is to pull the cork half way and then cut away the wax so none falls in the bottle. Then remove the cork altogether.
8/2/18, 7:17 PM - Ann sounds like a keeper
8/1/18, 7:48 PM - After years of enjoying your posts, Eric, that’s more excited than you usually allow yourself to be!
7/7/18, 9:43 AM - I have been a fan of yours for some time. This is an awesome metaphorical note and an unfettered expression. In our modern world that alone has old school value. Thank you
6/27/18, 7:35 AM - I have several of these. How long was yours decNted?
6/19/18, 8:24 PM - Love this note
6/16/18, 5:56 AM - I love your notes because I learn from them. What kind of tasting event was this?
6/16/18, 9:44 PM - Did you assemble the tasting group? Are the attendees friends or people you met at other wine functions? This is a step I am thinking about taking
6/18/18, 8:53 PM - Manny thanks
6/18/18, 6:42 AM - Way too young too
6/15/18, 8:40 AM - Thanks for your note. How ready to drink was it? How long did you decant? Most of. The advice out their is to hold the 2010’s but the CT comments vary.
6/8/18, 9:18 PM - Generally I Vacuvin and return it to the wine fridge or my regular fringe each evening. Works well and usually the Wine opens a little more each day. This is usually when I am having a glass or one and a half glasses per evening during the week.
6/9/18, 5:05 PM - So commonly in CellarTracker you see notes where the second day the wines just exploded with flavor. I buy a lot of wines that might be considered reductive or maybe I rush the drinking window a tad. These wines always need air and they take off sometimes on the second and third day. It’s like a lesson that I should have decanted more or waited longer.
6/1/18, 9:43 PM - Swedish?
12/16/17, 11:14 AM - Float on
12/11/17, 10:08 AM - Nice honest post. Just had a wonderful tasting at a top Loire producer and the erudite host told us that Zin was his favorite American wine. Other people sneer at. Vivre la difference!
11/19/17, 5:41 PM - Better to label it flawed and not give it a numerical score. It was the fault of the cork, not the wine? Happy tasting!
9/29/17, 7:09 PM - At least
8/24/17, 5:42 PM - Thank you
7/3/17, 9:45 PM - You overpaid I am sorry to say. I have not opened mine yet but paid $23 at Total Wine years ago. I would be unhappy too.
7/4/17, 7:13 AM - Oh my sympathies! Grew up in PA, a wine desert also, State store controlled.
6/10/17, 5:27 AM - But of course! Value is in the eye of the beholder. Nothing can be more true. It is 100% subjective.
6/11/17, 4:00 PM - I agree. It is especially true for Galloni. His tendency to overrate is shameless. I buy these more for my wife and have a high respect for Ramey's product but will spend the time to review
6/4/17, 8:14 PM - Had the same response over the years. A-R mentions bottle age often foe this wine which makes a noticeable difference
4/18/17, 9:28 PM - This one tasted more like a CDP than a Zin
4/18/17, 9:20 PM - Never think of Chardonnay as a good pairing with salmon unless the style is very dry and unoaked because the fish is fatty, even when grilled. Though Ramey Chards are very balanced they do get their fair share of oak and generally have ample body.
4/18/17, 9:08 PM - Sounds flawed
4/18/17, 9:05 PM - Have to agree
10/19/16, 1:02 PM - You posted this Port tasting on a Barboursville Cabernet Franc Reserve wine
8/23/16, 7:42 PM - Great note. Made me want to be there. This wine improves with a little age. By some stroke I have both of these. What did you eat?
4/26/16, 8:32 PM - Enjoyed your notes, RNR, but these wines saw only stainless steel
1/14/16, 8:36 PM - Thanks. It was an awesome night
11/16/15, 8:41 PM - Thanks Ombibulous. Based strictly on this note, I would say drink by 2018...but I had only this bottle from which to draw that conclusion.
10/25/15, 11:55 AM - Great tasting note
10/3/15, 12:50 PM - Det är roligt. Jag anser inte att detta vin är mycket ny värld alls.
10/3/15, 1:31 PM - Jag förstår. Ibland min tunga har en egen vilja
9/24/15, 8:07 PM - Don't sweat it. Everyone is not so fussy
7/23/15, 7:59 PM - Let us know when some drinking and tasting happen
5/5/15, 6:18 PM - I do not usually enjoy long tasting notes-many of them are self-indulgent and ostentatious. These were an exception. I saw them as practicing your craft and they were simultaneously instructive. And transporting-my wife and I have had the good fortune to visit this lovely place to wander and taste. The other terroir are the visuals these wines evoke. Thank you
3/29/15, 9:31 AM - Try a decant...believe it or not
2/21/15, 5:35 PM - Great post RF
12/5/14, 9:06 PM - Great post. So...what temp?
12/5/14, 9:30 PM - Great. Thanks
11/24/14, 9:14 PM - I am curious. Did your shipment seem less thAn optimal? In my shipment this fall, my bottles were knocking around inside the box and foam was broken inside? Never had that problem before. No damage though.
10/23/14, 8:46 PM - What pairing do you suggest?
10/2/14, 5:55 PM - Just tasted this tonight. Your note is dead on. My wife and I both enjoyed this but it promises more.
9/3/14, 8:15 PM - Have you tried this Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay since this last note?
8/17/14, 6:25 AM - Jeff, do I read your note correctly that this is ready to drink?
8/17/14, 6:30 AM - Jeff, do I read your note correctly that this is ready to drink?
8/17/14, 10:40 AM - Thank you Jeff. I have two from this producer, four bottles each. Will post as I go
8/13/14, 8:09 PM - Thanks...that was fun
8/12/14, 5:14 PM - Thanks for your note and for citing mine. It's funny, I realized the pineapple after I wrote my note. Thanks for filling in the blank
7/30/14, 6:48 PM - Funny note. Thanks
7/31/14, 1:01 AM - Keep acquiring, tasting notes or not
7/20/14, 7:28 PM - that's the thing about Total Wine. Given its volume of sales, I developed the impression that their prices would be better than average. What I found over the years was that their prices were spotty...some lower, and some higher. I think most cellar tracker folks paid $25 or less for this wine...which makes it a value
7/21/14, 6:58 PM - But every now and then they will feature a good one at a very good price. Keeps people coming back. Enjoy
7/15/14, 8:22 PM - Because he uses grapes like Picardan and others in his blends, recent regulatory changes do not allow them to label their wine as Rasteau. So he made a decision to resist and declassified. Just picked up 4 bottles for $59 including the shipping so I am hoping the deal is sweeter at this price.Love your succinct posts
7/11/14, 8:56 PM - I appreciate your reviews. Please tell me how your four numbers are derived
7/12/14, 9:38 PM - Many thanks. I have often seen wine scored in a similar manner in sums of separate numbers, knew about and have used a 100 point system and have searched in vain for the basis you just described so you clarified a great deal. By the way I believe I could score color, especially for reds. I had a Cote de Rhone recently that was an invitingly beautiful ruby (and equally tasty) whereas I have also had an inexpensive Barolo that was dull and cloudy. Whites could be more of a challenge. You have reviewed several of the wines in my cellar in the past. Your style adds significant credibility to your tasting notes. Thank you
6/3/13, 9:35 PM - Thank you Sheila. I have held this awhile and yours was one of the only comments. Good to hear it was worthwhile
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
