April 4, 2021 - Opened, no decant, followed during the evening. At the first smell I thought the wine is dead as the smell of beef broth was present. However it quickly dissipated. The color of the wine is translucent ruby red, with very little discoloration at the rim. I would say a virile wine with lots of red fruit but also mixed with tertiary flavors of truffles and spices. The finale is long and slightly caramelized. Very complex and mesmerizing.

July 10, 2015 - Very rich and deep-colored for Volnay. Would have benfited from a decant, as the last glass was more ethereal and high-toned as you would expect from a Volnay. Still, delicious and completely intact. No rush, several years left on this one.

October 4, 2012 - At Støberiet, Holstebro (Denmark)- highly recommended upscale brasserie, if ever you go there. Always nice to drink mature Burgundy - this one at a bargain. This is perhaps not the biggest Burgundy, but the producer is certainly top class. Somewhat transparent, but not quite "see-through"..... The nose initially very tight hinting a bit of damp cellar. After some time in the glass, the classic earthy notes came along. On the palate quite firm tannins for its age, although lacking a bit fruit, I think. Medium long-finish.Some layers of different impressions, but not overly complex. An absolute delight to drink, though.

October 7, 2011 - This is much more elegant and volnay-like than their Santenos. But it's not that exiting and looses in quality with air.

June 26, 2011 - Still too tight and closed or just unexciting? Perhaps I will wait to open the next bottle until it turns 20 ...

June 14, 2008 - Closed at first. Surprisingly soft given the vintage. A feminine, reserved style. Doesn't have enough complexity to succeed in this style. Maybe a bit too polite. Maybe this will open a bit more with time, but I doubt it will ever be great.
