December 19, 2012 - Haven't tried this for 7 years and my patience has paid off. Oliver has a drinking window on this wine till 2009 and boy was he off the mark! This wine is in a beautiful, happy place right now. Nose was initially muted, but after 3 hours in the decanter, it started to open up. Savoury notes of black olive, tobacco and spice carressed my nasal cavities. Although nearly 12 years old the colour is still deep and dark. The palate though has mellowed and softened. Silky fine, integrated tannins meshed with smooth cassis and blackberry fruit cover the tongue giving an altogether wonderful mouthfeel. This wine spent 27 months in new French oak and you wouldn't know it. It has fully integrated into the wine making this high class gear with an oldy worldy feel to it. Hats off to Stuart Watson! This is exceptional stuff and I am glad I have a few more bottles in the cellar as it has many a year left in it yet. Will it get better? Don't know but it is drinking very well now.

December 31, 2005 - First experience for me for this wine. I have had the Woodlands entry level Cabernet Merlot and also the premium "Margaret", which were both impressive, but had not tried the Kevin. However, in saying that I have heard some good things about this wine and was looking forward to tasting it. Decanted for 3 hours prior to consumption. Upon opening, the wine was not giving anything away. But after 3 hours of air, nuances of eucalypt, menthol, black fruits and oak rose from the glass. The colour was medium to deep red. But the best was yet to come. Upon taking the first sip, my mouth was coated with a big, very smooth wine with plenty of upfront fruit, blackberry and dark plums. Considering the youngness of the wine there was no bite and, dare I say it, the wine reminded me of a young Moss Wood, but more in your face. However, definitely in the same class in my book. There is a healthy dose of French oak present but it does not detract from the wine one bit. This wine is drinking so good now but for those who can patiently hold on to a few bottles, this wine will bring very rich rewards in the future. In the words of Gandalf the Wizard, "keep it secret ... keep it safe". The best Margaret River Cabernet I have tasted this year. Legendary wine!

August 3, 2005 - Century Wine Club - August 2005 (Scarborough Wines): All spice and fruit. Excellent mid-palette tang of orange with lots of new oak. Infact, perhaps abit much new oak as it's a touch heavy on the resin flavours. Quite enjoyed it actually - guess you have to like that oaky, overcooked style. Will compare well to other MR cabs.
