December 25, 2015 - From half bottle. Lovely classic Cheval nose, showing only a light touch of the green pepper this time, and veering more towards a lovely elegant perfumed character. The palate has just a touch of sweetness, and an incredible elegance. Moderate acids are balanced out by a touch of herbaceousness and ripe red fruit. Resolved tannins. There's still a tinge of primary on this which does help to keep this a little more spry. There's a reason why Cheval Blanc is probably my favourite Bordeaux...

October 9, 2015 - A very refined vintage of Cheval in a crisp, steely sort of way. Tasted alongside the '90, this couldn't compare but I like its lean, classy, chiseled profile especially with food. The finish lacks great complexity but it's still young. 92+

October 8, 2015 - Well balanced combination of tar, mint and oyster shell minerality on the nose to complement the fruit. In the middle of the scale for palate intensity, this is still young and tannic (with wood still discernable), with a grip on the backpalate. Has the acid and fruit to improve with time. Better with food than without, in this case a modern construction of a lamb cassoulet.

Un nez suave de tabac, cuir et... paprika!
En bouche le vin est de corps moyen, fin et équilibré, épicé, facile à boire et bien ouvert dès le départ. C'est délicieux, sans être très grand, tout en élégance et finesse. 93 pts

September 5, 2015 - 8th of 24, perfect cork and fill, decanted an hour, previous notes since 06 fine or better - medium deep browny red, some development on rim; enchanting, classy bouquet, plum, cherry, some mushroom, violet and liquorice, touch of spice; medium bodied, beautiful balance, length and flavour components, enhanced acidity and just lacking a little roundness and generosity of a top vintage, should continue to age well. Fine plus (18/20).

(Chateau Cheval Blanc St Emilion) An attractive hue here, although this wine - from a vintage which was very successful on the left bank but not so on the right. At twelve years it is showing some early maturity, with complex and appealing aromas of iron and tea leaves. Fresh, characterful, expressive, and the immediate impression is of a wine that is a success, taking into account the quality of this vintage for the region. The palate follows through, showing a fine presence, with a delicious, sappy, rounded character. It has a little weight, shows a touch of grip at the finish, and remains fresh and very complete throughout. A really lovely style here.

(Chateau Cheval Blanc St Emilion) A deep, meaty, concentrated and evolved nose. Fresh, also a little soft, but underneath that a warm and velvety nature coating a core of tannin. Firm, certainly meaty as on the nose, full of potential. Not a great Cheval Blanc, nevertheless very good indeed.
