January 14, 2024 - Ruby red in color. 14.5% ABV. Stunning nose of red fruits, iron, wet asphalt and garrigue. Medium body with medium acidity and exceptional balance. None of the roasted notes or port like qualities commonly found in wines of this vintage. Kirsch, roasted herbs, raspberry liqueur and blood on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. I honestly opened this wine with a little trepidation based on recent reviews but at least this bottle has aged brilliantly. Best over the next several years.
February 4, 2023 - Ruby red with bricking. Initially a blast of floral red berries with baking spice aromas that settles to show licorice and hint of earth. Lush and silky palate shows bitter-sweet licorice laced red berry preserves, lowish acidity and a warm spicy finish. This did not show any roasted quality to the fruit but does show the alcohol on the finish.
December 31, 2022 - Still going strong!
July 20, 2022 - Past its prime. Starting to turn brownish in color. Drink up
December 30, 2020 - A little stewed? Good with a fresh pot of chilli on a cold winter night.
November 27, 2020 - Past peak. But still drinkable.
November 21, 2020 - Starting to turn. Not worth a buy now. Drink ASAP.
May 1, 2020 - Reddish brown in color, looking advanced. Meaty, earthy, lots of anise. Rich heavy fat texture with black fruits, dirty cherry. Flavors a bit dilute yet feel
The warmth of the vintage. Finishes with some nice spice, yet overall a bit disjointed. Don’t see this improving. Drink up.
August 22, 2019 - Over the top - maybe flawed
January 7, 2019 - Weekly tasting group RWP #315; Rhone varietals (@ My place): Mature bouquet with chocolate and soy. On the palate the same, good acidity, but although still enjoyable and very interesting this bottle is past its prime.
