March 27, 2022 - Wonderful. Fully aged but great fruit. Allowed it to sit for an hour.
June 4, 2020 - Long gone. Flabby, uninteresting, notes of dark plum. Modern made Châteauneuf I think. Should have been drunk up a decade ago.
March 15, 2020 - Drinking very well which surprised me based on some recent postings. Certainly no reason to wait, but not time to panic either.
December 7, 2019 - More solid than many entry level CdPs at its age, it is clearly in decline though. Somewhat austere, with a reticent nose of cherry, herbs de provence, and funk, this show some level of Grenache and CdP character. It is missing energy though, and the palate is not totally together and too acidic. I think drinking earlier would help and I've concluded that unlike other noble regions, CdP is not one to age to 20 years.
March 18, 2019 - No formal notes but this was showing better than when I last had this 14 years ago. 92 points.
January 27, 2019 - Good C9dP a bit past its peak. Still enjoyable with a nice nose and nice extract and sweetness, but also getting a bit tired on the mid palate. Drink now. 89-90
December 7, 2017 - Off the bottle list at SommPicks in NYC. Wow was this rocking. Opened and decanted and poured and between three of us it was gone in maybe 20-25 minutes. Still young and can go some more years, but this was a nice place right now. Fruit very much there but lots of more mint and chocolate notes as well. Paired with a truffle shortrib polenta (which was also excellent and required seconds) and it was a great combination.
April 21, 2016 - Tasted blind. Minerally nose; striking river rock, blackberries, slate, pomegranate. Dark entrance of stone and blackberries. Expanding spices and tannins. The mineral notes override the fruit. Once it opens up, the fruit fights back and showcases enjoyable strawberry lemonade flavors. I have absolutely no idea what this is or where it's from. Which is great.
April 21, 2016 - Tasted blind. Initially the only aroma was faint petrichor but this slowly developed to show cinnamon, red zinger tea, brambly berry fruit, red zinger tea. Palate is cool and pure, with rhubarb-raspberry types of sweet/tart, herbal tea, pleasant spiciness. The raspberry tea aspect has me thinking an aged Ridge Zin for a while but a bit of raw rubbed rosemary suggests something more Chateauneuf. Eventually wrote down Rhone-ish as a guess.
January 27, 2016 - Ready to drink, this bottle opened up right away. Typical CdP characteristics, earthy, savory, nicely balanced, mature.
