May 21, 2016 - Q2 Tasting - The Rhone! - Another taster's perspective ((The Apt)): #11 of 16 wines tasted (double-blind) at Rhone tasting. This was one of my two submissions so I knew it was either in spot 11 or 12. Decanted for 3.5 hours - then double decanted back to bottle and brought to Rhone wine tasting. Quite bretty on the nose at first - but this blows off with some time in glass. Still very young and primary in the red fruit profile with fairly strong tannins. Earth and leather lurk in the background but will need more time in the bottle for everything to resolve. I liked this but just outside of my top 5 wines. Overall for the group was middle of the pack.

May 21, 2016 - Q2 Tasting - The Rhone! (The Apt): Wine #11: Part of a double-blind tasting of Rhone wines and the beginning the (unplanned) Pegau mini-vertical. This is usually where I start to get palette fatigue and this time was no different. More tannic than some of the other wines this was clearly on the younger side. Red fruit. Caught some funk in the beginning, but it blew off pretty quickly. (4 pennies)

April 10, 2016 - Pulled cork at noon, decanted at 5pm, served at 8p. One of the better noses I have had a young red in recent and perhaps distant memory. This was hitting on every attribute once would judge aroma character; roses / florals, spices, dark raspberry, subtle additional of kirsch and plum, with a Provençal minerality closing the deal. Perfect 10's across the board including the cranky French judge. Like many tens, this is. Wine of perfect balance between sheer raw muscle, but caressing underlying material. Suprisngly open actually, when I compare to my recent go's of the 10 Vieux T and Charvin (both top shelf) that were a little tight for current consumption. I'm positive this would be the exception of those that are wary of post Parker CDP, this is a superlative wine, by any measure.

March 18, 2016 - Very classic and very good. Dark fruits, iron, tobacco, leather and some gamey, pleasing funk. Seamless with the bones to age well. Decanted two hours - it opened up during that time but was good right out of the bottle. This will be long lived but great now.

March 11, 2016 - Decanted for 1 hour and served with grilled chicken.

Dark reddish black color and throwing some sediment (minimal). On nose, earthy, garrigue, black raspberry, tobacco & leather. Palate was tobacco, iron, black raspberry, raspberry & cherry. Medium body, medium+ acidity & long finish. I preferred the '09 to this (tasted several years ago) but loved this as well. 93+ with room for improvement.
