August 18, 2017 - Still bright red colored and very youthful.Lots of tannins underneath the lovely fruit. This is a darker fruited Pegau, burly, and leaning more toward black cherry and currants. Nice spice with iron and blood notes. Not clean, per se, but cleaner than many of my recent Pegau's--and more enjoyable. This is stately, structured, and is moving towards early maturity, but is well structured and will be a long lived wine. Should only improve for the next 5-10yrs

July 20, 2017 - Took to a restaurant, should have double decanted to get it some air prior. Excellent fruit quality with this Pegau. Unfortunately too big for the fine french fare we enjoyed. No more checking in needed, will let them rest! (2020 and beyond).

June 29, 2017 - Dark robe, complex nose of cured meats, ripe dark berries, full bodied with superb mid palate, layered, sweet tannins, keeps getting better with age, very compelling and utterly delicious with many more years of pleasure left

June 7, 2017 - Starting to really fill out. Another 12-18 months and I think it will hit its peak.

June 2, 2017 - This wine is fabulous and holds enormous promise for the future. It manages to have tarry black fruit flavors and still remains fresh and alive. The nose is gorgeous - lavender and spice and cassis. The mouth feel is luxurious and sensual. The flavors are only slightly unfocused right now but the package is fantastic. The tar is there from aromatics to finish as is the spice. The initial attack holds lavender and red fruit that then deepens to cassis and tar and a bit of tobacco. An exceptionally masculine wine. I will probably wait another 2 - 4 years before trying again. I should. The promise of what this wine will become is compelling.
